We place freely accessible pianos in public spaces: Everyone is welcome to play. Also we run a social music school called DoReMi. Alle dürfen zuhören.

Wir platzieren frei zugängliche Klaviere im öffentlichen Raum:
Alle dürfen spielen. Auf diesen werden zusätzlich (Klavier-)Konzerte veranstaltet, die vorzugsweise von Geflüchteten aber auch von Einheimischen gehalten werden. Dabei generieren wir Spenden, welche in Musikprojekte mit einkommensschwachen Personen fließen, hauptsächlich aber in unser soziales Musikinstitut DoReMi. DoReMi unterrichtet

mit einem "Zahl so viel du kannst"-Konzept. Musik unterscheidet weder zwischen Herkunft, Sprache noch Religion. Musik ist eine globale Sprache, die überall gesprochen und überall verstanden wird. Musik verbindet. So will "Open Piano for Refugees" die Interaktion in der Öffentlichkeit fördern, den öffentlichen Raum kunstvoll beleben sowie für eine positive öffentliche Präsenz von Geflüchteten sorgen. Über die Musik soll eine neue Kommunikationsplattform und neue Verbindungsbrücken in unserer Gesellschaft geschaffen werden.

We place freely accessible pianos in public places. Everyone is welcome to play. Everyone is welcome to listen. Thereby, we allow people from all walks of life to connect through music. Apart from the pedestrians playing, there will be organized piano concerts, mostly given by refugees. Donations will be collected permanently and reinvested in musical projects with socially disadvantaged people. Music is our global language. Everybody speaks it, everybody understands it. Music connects.

“Open Piano for Refugees” aims to increase interaction in public, revive public spaces artfully and raise positive awareness for the diverse potentials of refugees.

We were lucky enough to have the incredible duo stop by and share a spontaneous performance with us in the heart of Vienna ❤️

The wonderful The Dresden Dolls are playing a small surprise concert at the Open Piano at Karlsplatz in Vienna. You can see them perform on the 30th of August at 11:00 AM before they rock the Arena Open Air on the 1st of September! Support Act is Agnes Verano! 🧡🎶

A big thank you to The Dresden Dolls, as well as their whole team, for the support and to encourage appreciation and tolerance in society. This is also a call for support for the social music school DoReMi, which gives music classes for everyone, despite origin or income. THANK YOU to everyone! 🎵

Where do the donations go?
The social music school DoReMi in Vienna focuses primarily on promoting the inclusion of migrants, refugees and socially disadvantaged people (with and without a migration background). Refugees and migrants are not only pupils here but also work as teachers, teaching instruments such as the oud, piano, guitar, jazz singing and oriental singing. The whole school operates on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, so that pupils on low incomes can also take part in the lessons. Music makes no distinction between language, religion or background. Music brings people together!

Er spielt und singt ein Lied aus dem Film "Joseph: King of Dreams" auf unserem Open Piano in Wien! Und bald habt auch ihr wieder die Chance in Wien auf dem weißen Flügel uzu spielen, denn das nächste Open Piano startet schon am 27. August am Karlsplatz in Wien! Kommt vorbei! 🧡🎶
