SALTO European Solidarity Corps SALTO European Solidarity Corps is a structure that offers expertise for enhancing solidarity.

OeAD - Austria’s agency for education and internationalisation

The OeAD is Austria’s agency for education and internationalisation. It has supported and cross-linked people and institutions in education, science, research and culture for 60 years with its future-oriented programmes. As an agency of the Republic of Austria the OeAD thus contributes to inclusive, equal and high-quality education. The OeAD’s fields of activity are in Austria, Europe and international priority countries. The OeAD acts as an interface to educational options for all phases of life – from kindergarten and schools to higher education and science, vocational education and training and adult education. The agency's most important instruments are European and international exchange and transnational mobility. Thus, as a national agency, the OeAD is responsible, among other things, for the implementation of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps in Austria. The OeAD is a non-profit limited liability organisation (GmbH) of the federal government. Its activities are funded by the Republic of Austria, in particular by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the Federal Ministry of Labour, Family and Youth (BMAFJ), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the European Commission.

SoliDARE 2026: that’s a wrap! 🌍✨

From 5 to 9 October, 89 participants from 30+ countries met in Tallinn, Estonia for the 5th edition of SoliDARE, the community event for ESC Quality Label organisations and National Agencies.

Together we explored what the European Solidarity Corps means today and harvested lessons from past and current EU volunteering programmes to feed into the next programme generation. 💡

We also made space for:
🤝 networking and new partnerships
🔥 inspiration for individual and organisational change
💙 a stronger sense of belonging in the ESC community

We thank very much the Estonian National Agency – Haridus- ja Noorteamet for hosting the event and guiding us through the realities of different ESC organisations in Estonia. 🇪🇪

🌍 What if a few weeks of volunteering could become a laboratory of solidarity?

🇦🇱 In Albania, this is already happening.

In the heart of the Western Balkans, Beyond Barriers - Pertej Barrierave has turned youth volunteering into a driver of community transformation. Through international Volunteering Teams, the organisation empowers young people to learn, connect, and contribute. 🤝

Albania's Contact Point for Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps since 2011, Beyond Barriers creates spaces where inclusion, skills, and solidarity grow side by side. 🌱

💬 "Volunteering teams are not just about helping out for a few weeks," says Rafaela Mborja, Programme Coordinator at Beyond Barriers. "They are laboratories of solidarity - spaces where young people learn about cooperation, inclusion, and belonging."

✨ What makes this story powerful is its vision: volunteering is not only a service to the community, but a shared learning experience that builds belonging across borders.

🤝 The Solidarity Corps creates lasting cooperation: 92% of partner-country organisations and 87% of programme-country organisations report expanded networks. Countries highlight clear increases in cross-border cooperation, cultural exchange, and shared practices, including with non-associated neighbouring countries.

Les jeunes participants plongent dans des sessions interactives avec leurs pairs ainsi que des représentants du BIJ, du centre SALTO Corps européen de solidarité et de la Commission européenne 💬🌍

Au programme : retours d’expérience sur leur expérience de volontariat, co-création et réflexions pour faire évoluer les dispositifs de volontariat des jeunes en Europe.
