🌎 A Night of Gratitude, Fellowship & Impact — The Rotary Thanksgiving Charity Dinner 2026

We are delighted to invite you to the Rotary Thanksgiving Charity Dinner, the flagship fundraising evening of Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia — and this year, a truly special international gathering.

For the first time, three international Rotary clubs in Austria — Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia, Rotary Club Vienna International, and Rotary Club Salzburg International — are joining forces to host this meaningful evening together.

This collaboration is an important milestone and a wonderful reflection of what Rotary stands for: Service, Fellowship, International Understanding, and Impact.

✨ Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Johannes Hahn, President of the General Council of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) and former European Commissioner, who will join us for an evening of inspiring conversation and international perspective.

💙 Giving back with purpose

The proceeds of the evening will support Rotary Sure Start, a humanitarian initiative supporting pregnant women, young mothers, and children in Ukraine — providing families with access to safe care, early childhood development, trauma support, specialist consultations, and early intervention. The project is being developed together with Rotary Club Kyiv-Sophia and Save Ukraine.

Letter from the President

As President of Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia for 2026–2027, I am honoured to begin this year with a vision centered around three priorities: community, international cooperation, and meaningful service.

Community — I would like to further strengthen fellowship within our club by fostering positive energy, meaningful connections, friendship, and a shared sense of purpose. Rotary is not only about projects and meetings; it is also about the people we meet and the community we create together. This is why I am introducing initiatives such as Rotary Meetups, informal visits to places connected to our members that give us an opportunity to better understand each other’s professional and personal worlds.

International cooperation — RC Vienna Maria Theresia is one of Austria’s three international Rotary clubs, bringing together globally minded Rotarians from Austria and many other countries. I see this international spirit as one of greatest strengths of the club. I am particularly pleased to support Stories of Vienna, a new initiative introduced by our Public Image Chair Jakob Etzel, and to strengthen cooperation with other international Rotary clubs in Austria and across Europe.

We are also delighted that Rotary Club Vienna International and Rotary Club Salzburg International have accepted our invitation to become cooperation partners for our flagship event, the Thanksgiving Charity Dinner on 26 November. More broadly, I am committed to strengthening international fellowship, collaboration, and exchange across Rotary communities in Europe, including through our contribution to the new International Rotary Clubs of Europe initiative.

Meaningful service — Service remains at the heart of Rotary. We will continue to support and further develop our flagship charity initiative Rotary Sure Start, providing assistance to children and families in Ukraine.

At the same time, I would like to see thoughtful, value-based membership growth — welcoming internationally minded people from diverse sectors and backgrounds who connect with the spirit and values of our Rotary community.

Above all, I hope this Rotary year will be impactful not only through what we contribute externally, but also through what we create together internally — as individuals, as fellows, and as a community.

I very much look forward to this journey together.

Rotary Fellowship Beyond Club Boundaries

What a wonderful evening of friendship, conversation, and connection at our joint partner summer meeting of Rotary Club Wien Hietzing, Rotary Club Wien Thalia, and Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia!

At the heart of the evening was what Rotary does so well: personal exchange and fellowship. It was a wonderful opportunity to make new connections, deepen existing friendships, and experience the spirit of Rotary beyond the boundaries of our own clubs.

We were delighted to spend the evening in the beautiful, green surroundings of Vienna’s Hietzing district at Wambacher, enjoying good food, inspiring conversations, and a relaxed summer atmosphere.

A special thank you to Michael Wallner, President of Rotary Club Wien Hietzing, for the warm welcome and for bringing our three clubs together. Olha Bosak, President of Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia, and Eva Kettner-Gössler, President of Rotary Club Wien Thalia, joined the memorable evening together with many Rotarians from all three clubs.

Three clubs, many new connections, and one wonderful Rotary evening. 💙

Sharing the first positive moments of our first club meeting of the new Rotary year!

It was a wonderful evening filled with Rotary spirit, inspiring conversations, and optimism for the year ahead.

We were especially pleased to welcome our guest from Ukraine, Lilija Krokhmaliuk, Secretary of the Rotary Club Ivano-Frankivsk ART UA. Lilija introduced her club, shared its mission and current initiatives, and gave us valuable insights into Rotary’s impact in Ukraine. It was inspiring to learn more about the meaningful projects her club is advancing and a wonderful reminder of the strength of international Rotary fellowship and our shared commitment to make a positive impact together.

We sincerely thank Lilija for joining us and wish the Rotary Club Ivano-Frankivsk ART UA continued success in serving its community.

Wishing all Rotary clubs a successful, inspiring, and fulfilling Rotary year. Together, we can create hope, strengthen communities, and make a lasting difference.

Thank you to all Rotary Club members and our guests who joined us yesterday for our annual handover meeting.

As we closed one Rotary year and opened the next, we took time to celebrate our accomplishments, reflect on shared achievements, and express our gratitude to those who served under the leadership of President Arndt Röchling. We also warmly welcomed our new President, Olha Bosak, in a spirit of gratitude, inspiration, and joy.

The handover evening was a special and enjoyable occasion in the heart of Vienna, just steps away from the Vienna State Opera, bringing together fellow Rotarians and Rotary friends to mark this important transition.

During the evening, President Olha Bosak shared her strategic priorities for the year ahead with great enthusiasm and confidence. Her vision is centered around three key pillars: community, international cooperation, and meaningful service.

“I am grateful for your trust and look forward to a year focused on fellowship, international collaboration, meaningful service, and thoughtful growth within our international Rotary community. Let’s make it a great year together!”

With these inspiring words, President Olha Bosak begins her term, committed to strengthening connections, advancing service, and fostering positive energy.

Rotarian positive vibes were truly felt yesterday as we celebrated the very first Rotary Summer Fest in Vienna – an inspiring initiative led by Rotary Club Wien-Hietzing in cooperation with our club.

A special thank you and big applause go to Paul Reitbauer, President of Rotary Club Wien-Hietzing, whose vision, initiative, and leadership brought this event to life. From the initial idea to gathering resources and building momentum, Paul made sure this wonderful gathering became a reality.

On behalf of our club, heartfelt thanks also go to our Program Committee Chair Sabine Bauer for coordinating the event on our side, and to Josef Jarisch, Johannes Chudoba, Alois Erwin Mair, Arndt Röchling, and Olha Bosak for their active contribution and support.

The evening brought together Rotarians and friends of Rotary in a wonderful atmosphere of fellowship, accompanied by outstanding live saxophone music and a remarkable charity art auction featuring works by nine artists.

We were privileged to have the auction conducted by Otto Hans Ressler, renowned art expert, former Head of Fine Art at Dorotheum GmbH & Co KG, and co-founder of the auction house Auktionshaus im Kinsky. The auction was expertly moderated by Reinhard Backhausen, Past President of Rotary Club Wien-Albertina, whose involvement greatly contributed to the event’s success.

Among the artworks presented were two paintings by our President-Elect Olha Bosak.

Her painting Rotary Club, dedicated to the values and spirit of Rotary International, uses a structured, layered surface and earthy tones to symbolize people building something lasting together. We are delighted that the new owner of this work is Thomas Franz Huber, President of Rotary Club Wien Donau.

Another work, Making an Impact, strongly reflects the upcoming Rotary theme of creating lasting impact. Its dynamic circular composition visualizes energy radiating inward and outward, showing how meaningful actions continue to influence people and communities over time.

What makes Olha Bosak’s art distinctive is the combination of energy and creativity. Drawing on years of experience leading energy and transformation projects, she uses contemporary art to make invisible forces visible, exploring the systems, connections, and energies that shape our world and our future.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, contributed, and helped make this first Rotary Summer Fest such a memorable success.

This Saturday, we are looking forward to welcoming guests to the first Rotary Summerfest, organized by Rotary Club Wien-Hietzing in cooperation with Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia.

The event will feature an auction with nine selected works, with proceeds supporting Rotary initiatives and charitable projects.

Olha Bosak, President-Elect of Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia is among participating artists. Professionally, she works at the intersection of energy infrastructure, investment, and strategic development, with leadership experience across international markets including Austria, Norway, Canada, and Ukraine.

Alongside her professional career, art plays an important role in her life. Her series “Energy Matters” explores energy in its many dimensions — from infrastructure and systems transformation to emotional and natural energy flows. Selected works have been exhibited internationally, including in New York, Miami, San Diego, Toronto, Ottawa, Kyiv, Paris, Milan, Venice, and Vienna.

One of the works presented at the auction, “Making an Impact,” reflects core Rotary values and aligns with the motto of the upcoming Rotary year, “Create Lasting Impact.” The piece symbolizes the idea that meaningful change emerges through continuity, responsibility, and collaboration.

We look forward to an inspiring evening of exchange, community, and engagement in support of Rotary International’s mission.

As the current Rotary year draws to a close, members of Rotary District 1910 gathered in the beautiful Austrian town of Klosterneuburg for the District Conference 2026.

The special event provided valuable opportunities for learning, exchange, fellowship, and inspiration as we prepare for the new Rotary year beginning on 1 July. A special highlight was the review of the past Rotary year by District Governor Ralf Peters, who also officially handed over leadership to his successor, Sabine Unterweger. We thank Ralf for his dedication and leadership and wish Sabine every success for the year ahead.

The conference also showcased several flagship projects from across the district. Among the most inspiring presentations was the keynote address by Professor Johannes Lindner on entrepreneurship and youth empowerment. His presentation highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and creating opportunities for young people to actively shape the future. As entrepreneurship remains a key driver of a vibrant and sustainable economy, it is encouraging to see Rotary supporting initiatives that foster these skills and mindsets among the next generation.

We were also warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Klosterneuburg Christoph Kaufman and enjoyed an excellent cultural programme, including a guided tour of the historic Klosterneuburg Abbey and its renowned wine cellar — one of Austria’s oldest and most significant wine estates.

Several members of Rotary Club Vienna Maria Theresia participated in the conference, including: Olha Bosak, President-Elect, Ruth Freedom Pojman, International Service Chair, Hermann Jungmayr, Club Secretary, Alois Erwin Mair, Club Master, Sascha Mundstein, Foundation Chair and Webmaster.

A wonderful evening at our Rotary Club with our relatively new member Barbara Heitger as guest speaker.

Barbara shared insights into her professional and personal journey that led her to our club, as well as her expertise in systemic organizational consulting, change, and leadership. Her reflections sparked an inspiring discussion on transformation, collaboration, and leadership in times of change.
