🎓✨ A huge congratulations to our five BAC graduates! ✨

🥳We are incredibly proud to share some wonderful news: five of the high school students supported by Boky Mamiko have successfully passed their high school leaving exam, the BAC! 🇲🇬

💪🏼The Baccalauréat is a major milestone—and a particularly demanding one. These young people have worked hard, persevered, and shown tremendous determination to achieve this important result.

📚🌱For the past three years, throughout their high school journey, Boky Mamiko has had the privilege of supporting them along the way. Seeing them reach this milestone is incredibly rewarding and reminds us why education matters so much.

🎉✨ A milestone worth celebrating!

This year, five Boky Mamiko university bursary students graduated, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they have achieved.

Congratulations to: 🎓 Tancia, who graduated from the Institut Supérieur de Pédagogie d’Antananarivo with a degree in Pedagogical Sciences, specialising in teaching English. 🎓 Lange, who graduated from ASJA Antsohihy with a degree in Economics and Commerce (Management and International Trade). 🎓 Fulgence, Jean, and Mario, who all graduated from ASJA Antsohihy with degrees in Applied Foreign Languages.

🥰These students come from rural communities in northwest Madagascar, where access to higher education is often out of reach. Through the support of our donors and community, Boky Mamiko has been able to provide scholarships that open doors to opportunity, hope, and a brighter future.

💪🏼 Their graduations are not just personal achievements—they are a testament to the power of education to transform lives, families, and communities.

🙌 To our five graduates: congratulations! Your hard work, determination, and resilience have inspired us all. We can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll make in Madagascar.

📚🇲🇬 Exam season has arrived in Madagascar! ✍🏽🧠

Over five weeks, between May and June, members of the Boky Mamiko team have been supporting students from Saint Joseph School in Maherivaratra, together with other Boky Mamiko bursary students living in Ambanja, as they prepared for the BEPC (the final exam before entering high school, at the end of the class of Troisième) and the BAC (the final high school exam, at the end of Terminal). 📖

🧮 Most of our work focused on Mathematics and Physics, two very challenging subjects for many students. We supported the whole classes together with teachers during lessons and offered one-to-one help afterwards to answer questions and work through difficult exercises.

Many students were able to understand topics that had seemed difficult before, and as we said together in class: “Sarotra, fa mazava = mora” (Difficult, but understood = easy!) 😅

💪🏽 The students’ motivation has been truly inspiring. Many stayed in the classroom long after sunset to do extra revisions, some revised together in the evenings, and many even woke up before sunrise to prepare for the school day!! All the students have also learnt to help one another and exchange ideas in a spirit of community and mutual support.

👏🏽 Congratulations to all the Troisième students for passing their BEPC last week! Welcome to high school! 🎉 And a huge good luck to all the Terminal students, who are having their BAC exam these days! 🍀

🌍 As our four-week journey to Madagascar comes to an end, we’d like to share some of the moments that made it so meaningful.

📚Mentorship at the Heart of Our Scholarship Programme

🤝 One of the key goals of our annual May–June delegation is to spend time with our university scholarship students in Antananarivo, Diego Suarez (Antsiranana), Antsohihy, and Ambanja.

🎓 Our programme is about much more than financial support. What makes it unique is the personal mentorship that accompanies each scholarship. Through walks around campus, shared meals, and visits to nearby natural and historical sites, we create opportunities for meaningful conversations, both one-to-one and in groups.

💬 These moments allow us to follow our students’ academic journeys, learn about their studies, research projects, and internships, celebrate their achievements, understand their challenges and aspirations, and support them in developing both professionally and personally.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Beyond mentorship, our programme also fosters a strong sense of belonging to an extended family built on shared values, mutual respect, and collective responsibility.

🌱 A beautiful example of this spirit is the initiative taken by our students to create their own association, Boky Mamiko Family. Their long-term vision is to one day provide a scholarship to a younger student themselves.

❤️ Seeing the next generation already thinking about how they can give back is perhaps the strongest sign that the impact of this programme will continue far into the future.

🎂 Celebrating 8 years of Boky Mamiko ❣️

From a small initiative by students and researchers at the University of Zurich in 2018 to a growing community making a real impact in rural Madagascar — this is our story.

🐣 Eight years ago, Boky Mamiko (“Books, My Love” in Malagasy) was born. Soon after, our first volunteers traveled from Switzerland with suitcases 🧳 full of books 📚 to open our very first library.

✨ Today, we reach over 1,500 students.

📚 3,500+ books shared�🏫 6 schools supported & 4 libraries created
📖 2 children’s books published in Madagascar�🔆 Solar energy installed in 2 schools

👩🏽‍🎓 In 2025:�• 35 high school + 25 university scholarships�• 23 high school & 5 university graduates since the program began

🍲 45,000 meals served in 2025 through 3 school canteens�👩🏽‍🏫 Support for 12 teachers, 1 librarian & 2 cooks

💛 But beyond the numbers, what truly defines Boky Mamiko is the community we’ve built together — growing, learning, and supporting one another like family.

✨ Still feeling inspired after last Saturday’s incredible concert in Vienna… 👏 An immense round of applause to the talented young musicians of the Vienna Music University, who delivered a truly wonderful performance in support of Boky Mamiko’s scholarship program.
🌍 Watching these passionate artists from around the world come together with purpose — generously offering their time and artistry to support students on the other side of the globe — was deeply moving. A powerful testament to the younger generation’s commitment to building a future rooted in peace and justice, even in the face of global challenges.
💛 A heartfelt thank you to the organizer, the musicians, the volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making this beautiful event possible.
