The reality facing the children of Ukraine remains a heavy burden on our hearts. These young souls are enduring a conflict they never asked for, yet they continue to pay the highest price. According to official reports, over 19,500 children have been documented as forcibly deported or abducted, and only a fraction have been successfully brought home to their families. Millions more face daily bombing attacks, sleepless nights, and the deep, silent trauma of war 💔

For so many of us, this is a normal sight. But today, we are holding a space in our hearts for the thousands of children who do not have this luxury. Children in Ukraine, and in conflict zones across the globe, whose skies are filled with fear instead of sunshine 💔

Instead of running freely through fields or parks, they are running to bomb shelters. Instead of laughing with friends, they are learning to live with the heavy weight of a war they never asked for.

A sad story from Pascale... Where bombs tear apart the nights, hope still finds a way 🕊️🇺🇦

For over twenty years, Kleine Herzen has stood by the most vulnerable children in Ukraine. Yet, until recently, my travels had never taken me to Odessa.

Odessa is a stunning, cosmopolitan city by the Black Sea, but today, it is heavily scarred by war. Every single night, sirens shatter the silence, announcing new bombings. Every morning, the city counts its dead and wounded. During my stay from April 23 to 30, the violence hit terrifyingly close, damaging a kindergarten and apartment buildings just steps away from where I slept.

This raw proximity to the conflict makes a devastating reality undeniable: children are always the first victims. The war is robbing them of their safety, their stability, and their childhood.

But even in the darkest nights, we refuse to let hope be torn apart. We are on the ground to protect these young hearts, heal their silent wounds, and remind them they are not alone.

Torn from their families. Erased from their identity. Now, they need us. 🕊️🇺🇦

Thousands of Ukrainian children have been forcibly deported and separated from their homeland. In an attempt to systematically erase who they are, these innocent children face forced re-education and restrictions.

While the scale of this crisis is devastating, with over 19,500 documented cases since 2022, there is hope in the fight to bring them home. Thanks to the continuous, heroic efforts of our partner Save Ukraine, approximately 1,300 abducted children have been successfully repatriated and reunited with their families 🙏

But only a fraction have made it back. The road to recovery and reunification is long, and these families need our steady protection and care now more than ever.

Let’s keep raising our voices against these injustices. We cannot let the world look away until every child is safely home.

The Sounds of Childhood 🕊️💔

Imagine if the soundtrack to your child’s daily life was the sound of sirens and explosions...

This is the heartbreaking reality for the children of Odessa. Instead of looking up at the sky with wonder, they look up with fear. Almost daily, bombing attacks rob them of their safety, their sleep, and the simple peace every child deserves to grow up with 💔

The physical destruction is devastating, but the invisible scars left on these young souls run even deeper. They are living in a constant state of survival.

We cannot prevent the attacks, but together, we can protect their hearts. Through our support of the rehabilitation centers in Odessa, we provide the psychological therapy, stable care, and warm sanctuary these children desperately need to process this trauma and heal.

How do you heal the invisible scars of war? 💔

For the children aged 6 to 16 arriving at the Caritas-Spes Odessa rehabilitation centers, the trauma is silent but deep. Evacuated from intense conflict zones, many have lost their homes, their security, and their loved ones. Without targeted care, they risk becoming a lost generation.

Following her emotional journey to Odessa, our chairwoman Pascale Vayer saw firsthand how Kleine Herzen is helping rewrite their stories. Through your donations, we fund vital psychological support, tailored therapies, and a warm, stable environment where these children can finally learn to trust and dream again.

A symbol of survival and hope from Odessa. 🐾🇺🇦

The invisible wounds of war run deep for the children in Ukraine. Persistent fears, trauma, and sleepless nights have shaped their everyday lives. To give them back their childhood, Kleine Herzen is proudly supporting two vital rehabilitation centers of Caritas-Spes Odessa, providing psychological therapy, education, and a warm, safe haven.

During her moving journey to Odessa at the end of April, our founder, Pascale, witnessed a beautiful spark of resilience: The Cats of Hope. These unique, colorful ceramic cats were designed with love by the children of Odessa themselves. As a heartfelt thank you, we are gifting one of these beautiful cats to anyone who makes a donation of €50 or more to support these centers.
