Today we gathered the Tibetan youth in Vienna to create a safe space where they could share their thoughts and feelings about Pawo Lobga Rangzen’s self-immolation. Together, we reflected on his sacrifice, discussed the significance of his final message, and explored how we can honor his wish by turning his words into meaningful action.
To quote Pawo Lobga Rangzen‘s final words: „Bhoe Rangzen Gyalo!“ (Victory to Tibetan independence)

ENGLISH CAPTION: We know that many of you have been deeply affected by the self-immolation of Pawo Lobga Rangzen-la. For many of you, this may be the first time you have witnessed a self-immolation unfold in real time.

We understand how you are feeling. We believe it can be healing for all of us to share our thoughts and emotions with one another.

That’s why we warmly invite you to join us on Sunday to come together and talk about this. Afterwards, we’ll hold a creative studio session where we’ll make materials for the Global Day of Action on August 2—exactly one month after the self-immolation of Pawo Lobga Rangzen-la.

After the program, there will be time to get to know one another, connect, and continue the conversation.

Today we stood outside the UN in Vienna to honor Pawo Lobga Rangzen, who self-immolated in a call for a free Tibet.

May his sacrifice never be forgotten, and may it strengthen our resolve to continue the fight for freedom.

“I don’t want you to mourn for me, I want you to continue the struggle for Tibetan independence, because the lack of independence is the root of all our problems. Bhoe Gyalo, Bhoe Rangzen Gyalo” [Victory to Tibet.
Victory to Tibetan Independence].”

Today, we gathered in front of the United Nations in Vienna in solidarity with Pawo Lobga Rangzen.

His self-immolation was a desperate plea for the world to pay attention to the suffering of the Tibetan people and the ongoing destruction of Tibetan identity.

As China’s Ethnic Unity Law further threatens Tibet’s language, culture, religion, and future, we refuse to remain silent.

Outside the very institution founded to protect human rights and prevent oppression, we called on the international community to act.

May Pawo Lobga Rangzen be reborn in a free Tibet!
