Das erste Vernetzungstreffen in diesem Jahr fand bei unserem neuen Mitglied Julius Werner Chromecek statt. Gemeinsam besuchten wir die Galerie f/43, die am 6. März um 16 Uhr eröffnet wird.

We are excited to introduce the artist Rosa Roedelius. In her exhibition ‘Tauchgang’ at the project space of Kunstverein Baden, Roedelius presents a work-in-progress stage design for her ongoing film project ‘Zwischenland’. The opening will take place on 28 February 2026. Save the date!

Her artistic research spans painting, sculpture, and prose, which converge into installations and cinematic stagings. Rosa Roedelius is in a constant state of transformation and relies in her artistic process on a dreamlike certainty to find what belongs together.

Ihre künstlerischen Forschungsfelder sind Malerei, Bildhauerei und Prosa, die sich zu Installationen und filmischen Inszenierungen verbinden. Rosa Roedelius befindet sich in ständiger Veränderung und verlässt sich im Schaffen auf ihre traumwandlerische Sicherheit, zu finden, was zusammen gehört.

Letizia Werth has been engaged for several years with reduction and transformation in drawing. Through intense observation and simultaneous reflection, a new image emerges stroke by stroke, using a reduced palette of graphite pencil and ink combined with the natural tone of the canvas or paper. These works move fluidly along the boundaries between drawing, painting, and photography. In her artistic practice, she explores the ambiguous borders between fiction and reality, as well as between the mental and the physical, and investigates the concepts of time, space, and memory.

She was recently awarded the Martin Rainer Art Prize (IT) and the Wattgasse Vienna studio grant.

Beschäftigt sich seit mehreren Jahren mit Reduktion und Transformation durch Zeichnung. Durch intensive Betrachtung und gleichzeitige Reflexion entsteht Strich für Strich ein neues Bild mit einer reduzierten Farbpalette von Grafitstift und Tusche, die mit dem natürlichen Farbton der Leinwand oder des Papiers kombiniert wird. Es sind Werke, die sich fließend an den Grenzen von Zeichnung, Malerei und Fotografie bewegen. In ihrer künstlerischen Praxis befasst sie sich mit den mehrdeutigen Grenzen zwischen Fiktion und Realität sowie zwischen Geistigem und Körperlichem und erforscht die Konzepte von Zeit, Raum und Erinnerung.

Studied sociology and fine arts in Magdeburg, Rio de Janeiro, and Vienna. Nowak primarily works in photography, video/installation, and artist’s books. Her work constitutes a complex engagement with questions of visibility, comparability, and identity. Collaborations with artists and cultural practitioners form an important part of her practice. Since 2023, she has been a member of the collective of Fotogalerie Wien.

Einen wichtigen Bestandteil ihrer Praxis bilden Kollaborationen mit Kunst- und Kulturschaffenden. Seit 2023 ist sie Teil des Kollektivs der Fotogalerie Wien.

As part of her ongoing film project Zwischenland, Rosa Roedelius embarks on nocturnal visual deep dives together with cinematographer Benny Paya in a stage set specially developed for this purpose.

Im Rahmen ihres fortlaufenden Filmprojekts Zwischenland begibt sich Rosa Roedelius gemeinsam mit dem Kameramann Benny Paya nachts auf visuelle Tieftauchgänge - in einem eigens dafür entwickelten Bühnenbild.

In the exhibition not quite there, Anja Nowak and Letizia Werth interweave two artistic practices that engage in different ways with temporality, transformation, and language. This gives rise to dialogues between material, space, and memory — quiet table conversations between objects that bear traces and make processes visible.

In ihrer Ausstellung not quite there verweben Anja Nowak und Letizia Werth zwei künstlerische Praktiken, die sich auf unterschiedliche Weise mit Zeitlichkeit, Veränderung und Sprache auseinandersetzen. So entstehen Dialoge zwischen Material, Raum und Erinnerung - stille Tischgespräche zwischen Dingen, die Spuren tragen und Prozesse sichtbar machen.

Introducing Our Members

As the starting point of a new series introducing the members of Kunstverein Baden, we are very happy to welcome Julius Werner Chromecek as a new member.

Julius Werner Chromecek’s photographic practice focuses on encounters between humans and nature and their interrelations. Moreover, he engages with social norms and their effects on the individual, while also reflecting on photography as a medium.

Following an apprenticeship in photography and several formative stages—including studies in psychology, scientific work in neuroscience, and training in dance—he studied photography with Friedl Kubelka. His work has been shown among others, in London, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Rome, as well as at Künstlerhaus Wien and Fotohof Salzburg.

His photobooks have been acquired by Camera Austria, Fotohof Salzburg, and mumok. He has also curated several exhibitions. Chromecek is department coordinator at Künstlerhaus Wien, a member of the Artistic Advisory Board of REFLEKTOR BOOKS, and a juror for the Pfann-Ohmann Prize. In addition, he organizes photography workshops with children (led by Vreni Hockenjos) as well as with seniors and artists on the theme of gestures (led by Maria Scalet). In February 2026, he will open the photography gallery f/43 in Vienna.

Vernetzungstreffen/ Network Meeting Ausstellung/ Exhibition Haus Wittgenstein, Wien/ Vienna

Die monatlichen Atelierbesuche werden auch 2026 fortgesetzt. Sie zielen darauf ab, den Dialog der Mitglieder untereinander zu stärken und gemeinschaftlich Projekte anzuregen.

Das letzte Vernetzungstreffen fand am 12. Dezember 2025 anlässlich der Ausstellung „Theseus'Paradox on Medea & Co “ von Minna Antova im Haus Wittgenstein statt. Danke für die gemeinsame Tour und die spannenden Einblicke in die Präsentation.

The monthly studio visits continue in 2026. With these regular meetings, we aim to strengthen the dialogue between the members and encourage collaborative projects.

The last networking meeting took place on December 12 2025 on the occasion of Minna Antova's exhibition Theseus'Paradox on Medea & Co at Haus Wittgenstein. Thank you for the tour and the exciting insights into the presentation.

Curated by Juliana Furthner () and Pia Wamsler (), the exhibition runs from 23 November 2025 to 18 January 2026. Visit us this weekend — it’s our final opening weekend before the winter break.

Christina Werner's practice analyzes political visual strategies, mechanisms of visual power and their media dissemination, with a focus on global developments such as the rise of neo-fascism and the role of collective bodies in public space. She studied photography and moving image with Tina Bara, as well as media art with Alba D’Urbano at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts. Her work has been shown at, among others, the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Lentos Museum Linz, Mattatoio Rome, Museum Villa Stuck Munich, National Gallery Prague, Fotogalerie Wien, Goethe-Institut Los Angeles, Kunsthalle Exnergasse Vienna, Galerie Photon Ljubljana, and Bauhaus Museum Dessau. Her works are included in the Austrian Federal Collection, the Wien Museum, the Collection of the State of Lower Austria, Lentos Museum Linz, and the Arbeiterkammer Wien.

Monika Triska-Schaudy studied chemistry at the University of Vienna and later attended the University of Applied Arts Vienna as well as the School for Artistic Photography in Vienna, studying with, among others, Friedl Kubelka, Franz West, and Hermann Nitsch. Her work is based on collages of media, poetry, mythology, photography, and visual art, created through a layered, meditative process. This approach produces complex, structuralist image spaces that make visible the interplay of past and present, as well as fundamental patterns of human and cultural structures, in a multi-layered and shimmering form.

Monika Triska-Schaudy studierte Chemie an der Universität Wien und besuchte später die Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien sowie die Schule für künstlerische Photographie in Wien, unter anderem bei Friedl Kubelka, Franz West und Hermann Nitsch. Ihre Arbeiten basieren auf Collagen aus Medien, Dichtung, Mythologie, Fotografie und bildender Kunst und entstehen in mehrschichtiger, meditativer Arbeitsweise. Dabei entstehen komplexe, strukturalistische Bildräume, die Vergangenheit und Gegenwart sowie grundlegende Muster menschlicher und kultureller Strukturen in vielschichtiger, schillernder Form sichtbar machen.

Over the next few weeks, the project space will turn into a studio: Barbara Szüts is working on site and will provide insights into her current project Formen des Fehlens. In the process, the artist examines the negative form as an active component of a sculpture – not as a blank space, but as a thinking, processual form that is constantly reforming itself in interaction with the space and the viewer. It is an active counterpart – as a structural force that changes the relationship between inside and outside, surface and space, presence and absence. The void allows the viewer to see through, it guides the gaze and connects the surrounding space with the sculpture.
