Some people leave an impact not just through big moments, but through the little things that reveal the kind of heart they carry — and that is Leilani. 💙

She recently returned home for her grandmother’s funeral, and before leaving tonight to live out her dream of joining the United States Air Force, she stopped by to visit us… bringing homemade cookies she baked herself. 🍪

That simple gesture meant so much because it reflects exactly who she is — thoughtful, kind, grounded, and full of heart.

From being a Ta’iala Peer Leader to becoming part of our Intersections family as an employee, Leilani has always carried a spirit of service and leadership that made people feel valued and cared for. Watching her step into this next chapter makes us emotional, proud, and excited all at once.

Leilani, thank you for the love you’ve poured into others and for always staying connected to the people and community that helped shape your journey. We are so proud of you and will be cheering you on every step of the way. May God protect and guide you as you begin this new adventure. ✈️🇺🇸❤️

We had the pleasure of attending the Empowered Pathways Summit on Advancing Sexual Assault Prevention Through Collective Action hosted by one of our valued NGO partners, the American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, at the ASCC Multi Purpose Center.

Today’s summit created space for important conversations surrounding sexual assault prevention, survivor support, accountability, and the harmful social norms that continue to affect our communities.

Keynote speaker Tuiloma Sina Retzlaff, a leadership development professional known for her work in adaptive leadership, systems advocacy, and culturally grounded approaches to change, challenged attendees to reflect on how harmful behaviors are often minimized, normalized, or excused through the misuse of cultural and religious values.

The discussions throughout the day highlighted the importance of creating safe spaces, supporting survivors, and encouraging accountability within our communities.

As the summit continues, we look forward to learning more from the panelists discussions and will continue sharing some of the important insights and lessons gathered from this productive event.❤️‍🩹

Today, we are honored to share the full release of “Sulufaiga” —performed, written, and composed by Denise Faamasino-Tuitoelau.

Originally created for the film Loimata Natia, this song gives voice to the silent pain many carry, while reminding us of the power of hope, healing, and protection.

Sulufaiga means refuge—a place of safety. Through this video, we also highlight the work of our educators and Taʻiala Peer Leaders who are rising to lead, serve, and create safe spaces in our schools and communities.

Together, we can break the silence and be the refuge our young people need.

Some stories are hard to tell…

But they still deserve to be heard.

✨When we listen, we create healing
✨When we believe, we create safety
✨When we act, we create change

Sulufa’iga carries a message that calls us to protect, to listen, and to stand together.

What is Sulufa’iga?

Sulufa’iga means refuge—a place of safety, protection, and peace.

But refuge is not just a place…
✨It’s how we care for one another
✨It’s how we protect our children
✨It’s how we create spaces where voices are safe to speak

Together, we can be that refuge❤️‍🩹

How do we help our younger students grow up with strong values and confidence? 💭

Through our Sexual Risk Avoidance Education program “Choosing the Best,” students at Leone Midkiff Elementary School are learning that their choices matter, even at a young age. These small choices help shape how they treat themselves and others. 🌱

Through simple discussions, activities, and role play, students are learning how to communicate, understand personal boundaries, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right. We’re helping them recognize safe spaces and trusted people they can turn to, so they know they are never alone. 💛

Fa’afetai tele lava to the Home of the Mighty Cubs and the American Samoa Department of Education for your continued support and partnership. 🙏🏽💙❤️

Together, we are planting seeds of safety, respect, and courage, guiding our young people to stand firm, look out for one another, and grow into strong leaders. 🤍

✨ A reminder that safe spaces can be created--together.

🎶 For years, you've heard only a piece....stay tuned!

So good to reconnect today with one of our former staff member and longtime colleague, Malae Tanoa, who is back home in American Samoa with her children after laying her beloved brother to rest. We had the chance to share lunch with her and her son, Jeraz, who was such a joy to spend time with.

Malae, along with Loso I'aulualo, was part of the original cast of our very first play Silent Cries—which many years later became the film Loimata Natia. Sitting together, we found ourselves reminiscing about those early days of Intersections… days that were challenging, stretching, and at times uncertain—but deeply rich with purpose and fulfilling.

What made it even more special was watching her son hear these stories for the first time—stories of faith, perseverance, and purpose. A reminder that through it all, God was with us then, is with us now, and will always be with us.

There’s something powerful about having former staff members-turned-family return and see the impact of the work they helped build. Their fingerprints are still here, and their contributions continue to live on.

God bless you and keep you safe. Thank you for taking the time to visit with us. God's traveling mercies with you and your family as you travel home tonight ❤️🙏
