Alofa mo Meaola is a nonprofit liaison between the American Samoa Department

of Agriculture and a network of off-island Veterinarians; Humane Society International (HSI); Animal Balance; Soul Dog Rescue; and other NGO's. In April of 2012 Alofa mo Meaola took on a new challenge in caring for sick and retired working dogs. We took in "Kaiser" & "Lady" two of the first ASG Department of Customs working dogs who retired around 2010.

“Moses” came with “Kaiser” & “Lady” to stay with us because he was very sick. It appeared he had developed severe allergies while housed in the ASG kennel. He was losing weight, losing fur, had severe infections in both ears and was very lethargic. Even with all the care he was given while at the kennel it was evident “Moses” needed to be taken out of that environment to help improve his health. To date, “Moses” has gained weight (might be a little ‘over weight’), his fur has returned, the ear infections are minor now and he is ‘over’ energetic. “Kaiser” & “Lady” are doing well and are still kicking. All of them are still working in their own minds but seem to be enjoying their retired lives. Even in its infancy Alofa mo Meaola has already developed a new undertaking and is excited to see what else the bright future will bring.
