As we close out the third year of our Pacific Innovation & Technology Academy (PITA) Cohort, we are honored to have been featured in a recent newsletter and Year in Review highlighting Administration for Native Americans (ANA) projects across the Pacific Region.

As we continue to grow, our mission stays the same: raising awareness about substance abuse through outreach, education, and prevention. We also see prevention as creating new opportunities. By supporting workforce development, technology education, and innovation in American Samoa, we offer positive choices, brighter futures, and hope for the territory.

We want to thank our students, instructors, partners, supporters, and the Administration for Native Americans for believing in our vision. Our work and journey continues.

Thank you ANA Pacific Region T/TA Center for this opportunity to share our data driven results. We look forward to many more projects ahead.

Our Pacific Innovation and Technology Academy Junior Edition (PITA Jr.) made its debut at the American Samoa STEAM Fest 2026 with an exciting lineup of activities by our Dream Team, including 3D printing, an octet decoding challenge, and a T-shirt giveaway.

We surveyed students and families about future programs. Results showed strong interest, with 75% indicating they would join an after-school or summer technology club. Top areas of interest were 3D printing (42%), coding and programming (33%), and website and graphic design (25%).

These results reinforce the need to launch after-school STEAM and technology programs. Providing youth with positive, engaging activities, new skills, mentors, and opportunities to succeed are important prevention strategies against substance abuse and other risky behaviors. When young people are connected to learning, innovation, and purpose, they are better equipped to make healthy choices.

Thank you to everyone who visited and supported our booth, PITA Jr. This is just the beginning. Thank you Director Edna Noga, & OceaniaCdN for having us.

Congratulations to all teams on an amazing baseball season. Thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, and family for your support. Malo finau, malo le ta’aalo Warriors, and Crusaders for an excellent championship game. Congratulations to our season champs, Coach Obrien and the Warriors. Thank you, Crusaders, Lions and Vikings, for playing great baseball.

As a proud partner of American Samoa Little League, we have seen firsthand the positive impact baseball has on our youth. Through Little League, we watched many of this season’s players play their very first game, making it extra special to see them return this season and continue to grow both on and off the field.

We sincerely thank Jr Prep Sports Amerika Samoa for making this season possible. Their dedication to organizing the league created opportunities for our players as they prepare for college or future seasons. Despite challenges, they stepped up and made sure our players continue to compete and develop their skills. If you are considering supporting a local sports organization, we encourage you to support groups like JPS.

Fa’afetai tele lava to Director Pelesasa, the dream team at Parks and Rec, and their hard work in making sure our teams had the best field to play on, and to everyone who made this season possible.

Baseball in American Samoa will continue to thrive if we continue to support our players.

We believe smaller group settings make for stronger connections. This enables open conversations and engagement, and a healthier workplace culture.

Fa’afetai tele to our American Samoa DOH Behavioral Health Services Division and their Dream Team for this month’s training on Mental Health in the Workplace. Thank you for doing this important work and for continuing to invest in our nonprofits and communities by offering these trainings at no cost. Opportunities like these help organizations like ours make a real impact and take better care of the communities we serve.

Full circle moment 🙌

Before any funding, we were operating on tears, a prayer, and a deep desire to do something about the “drug problem” in the territory.

Today, our staff are participating in the 2026 Youth Prevention Institute in San Diego, California, strengthening knowledge, experience, and purpose.

Three of the staff attending were once our very first volunteers. They stood with us in the early days, when all we had was passion and a vision to serve. We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them, from ASCC to now pursuing different careers including social work, committed to helping others through substance abuse and su***de prevention.

This opportunity, made possible through our partnership with DOH Behavioral Health Services, directly supports the growth of our grassroots efforts serving families and youth impacted by substance abuse. Thank you Team DOH, for investing in your NGOs and your people.

Proud of this journey for our awesome staff and even more excited for what’s ahead.

While our third cohort of the Pacific Innovation Technology Academy, funded by the ANA SEDS Grant, is well underway, we remain grounded in our purpose, investing in our people first.

It’s inspiring to see this group evolve. Many entered with IT experience and are now leveling up: strengthening their skills, building confidence, and opening new doors for their future.

Every year, we take a moment to reflect and listen closely to the voices of the communities we serve, as well as to those of our staff and volunteers. We carefully consider the stories and experiences they share, the challenges they face, and how we can help improve their lives. These moments of reflection are valuable to us and our ongoing development.

We are grateful for the past twelve months, during which we have measured our impact through the experiences of those we have served. Most importantly, we recognize opportunities for improvement in the coming year, including expanding our programs and extending our reach to help raise awareness about drugs and alcohol use and abuse in American Samoa through collaboration, innovation, education, and advocacy.

Thank you, donors, grantors, and partners, for helping us achieve our program and project goals, and for funding tools for an impactful 2025. We are ready for the new year! Bring on 2026!
