I - ¿Sabías que en virtud
del modelo de alto rendimiento deportivo imperante muchos jóvenes se ven tempranamente excluidos de la práctica de deporte recreativo y representativo de su entidad o lugar? Nosotros apostamos a cambiar esta realidad a través del deporte gaélico y su comunidad. I - Did you know that due to the prevailing high performance model many young people find themselves prematurely excluded from the practise of recreation sports and of the practise of sports representing their clubs or places of residence? We intend to change this reality through Gaelic sport and its community. II - San Isidro, es una localidad a orillas del Río de la Plata, en la Zona Norte del gran Buenos Aires, con historia y tradiciones que datan de épocas preconstitucionales (inicios del siglo XVIII)
II - San Isidro is a town on the borders of the “Río de la Plata” in the northern area of Buenos Aires. It’s full of history and traditions dating from pre-constitutional times (beginning of XVIII century)
III - Entre las costumbres de este pueblo, es muy relevante la práctica del deporte (del latín "deportarse", que significa entretenerse, divertirse…) concebido como un vehículo saludable de integración, sociabilidad, formación y complemento de la educación de quienes lo practican en ratos libres luego del trabajo o del estudio. III - Practising sports (in Spanish “deporte”) stands among one of the most relevant customs of the people from San Isidro (“deporte” comes from the Latin language term “deportarse” which means entertaining oneself, enjoy oneself …) We conceive sport as a healthy vehicle of integration, socialization and training and as a complement in the education of those who practise it in their free time after work or study. IV - Un grupo de deportistas, vecinos de San Isidro, hemos encontrado en los juegos gaélicos de Irlanda, muy especialmente en el "gaelic football", el mejor vehículo para practicar deporte, tal cual, creemos, lo concibe y promueve la Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) como actividad "amateur". IV - A group of athletes living in San Isidro have found in Irish Gaelic games, especially in Gaelic football, the best vehicle to practise sports in the way we believe it’s conceived and promoted by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA): as an “amateur” activity. V - Mas allá del origen irlandés de muchas familias sanisidrenses, como argentinos apreciamos en modo objetivo este fruto de la cultura irlandesa (el deporte de fútbol gaélico) y por eso formamos San Isidro Gaélico, un espacio abierto para que nuestros deportistas locales tengan la posibilidad de acceder y beneficiarse con este deporte totalmente desconocido en la zona hasta nuestra constitución como equipo. V - Beyond the Irish origin of many families from San Isidro stands the objective appreciation that we have, as Argentinians, of this fruit of the Irish culture: the Gaelic football. That’s why we have formed “San Isidro Gaélico”, an open space for local athletes to gain access and benefit from this sport, which has been totally unknown in our town until our formation as a team. VI - Con sumo entusiasmo entrenamos y jugamos en un terreno cedido en préstamo por el Club Atlético de San Isidro (C.A.S.I.) en la zona del bajo cercana al río, los domingos de 12 a 14hs. bajo la instrucción de nuestro vecino y amigo Michael Gerrard Connery (jugador de Kilkenny en Irlanda). VI - With a lot of enthusiasm we train and play in a field lent by Club Atlético de San Isidro (CASI) in the low areas of San Isidro near the river, every Sunday from 12 to 14, under the instruction of our friend and neighbour Michael Gerrard Connery (player at Kilkenny in Ireland). VII - Inicialmente nos proponemos formar un equipo para jugar fútbol gaélico y para que cada vez más jóvenes de la comunidad (descendientes de irlandeses y de otras latitudes) conozcan y jueguen este extraordinario deporte en San Isidro y lo representen. Así también, con nuestro ejemplo (el modo más eficaz para transmitir una idea) pretendemos posibilitar que otros pueblos conozcan este deporte y compartirlo con ellos agrandando así la comunidad de deportes gaélicos. Nuestra misión es constituir un espacio para que los jóvenes de San Isidro practiquen deporte amateur como sano vehículo de integración, formación, socialización y entretenimiento en ratos libres luego del trabajo o el estudio, como complemento de la educación y formando comunidad en torno a los deportes gaélicos. VII - Initially, we intend to form a team through which Gaelic football can be played in San Isidro. We also wish to make this extraordinary sport known and practised among more and more young people of our community (descendants from Irish and other latitudes) that will eventually represent San Isidro in this way. With our example (the best way to transmit an idea) we also intend to allow other towns to get to know this sport and to share it with them thus expanding the Gaelic sports community. Our mission is to be a space where amateur sports can be played in San Isidro by young people as a healthy vehicle of integration, training, socialization and entertainment and as a complement in the education of those who practise it in their free time after work or study and forming community around gaelic sports. En general, a los irlandeses en la Argentina les ha ido muy bien … ¿Le pasará lo mismo al deporte gaélico en San Isidro y su área de influencia? In general, Irish have done well in Argentina … Will the same success happen to Gaelic sports in San Isidro and its surrounding area?
