A Historic Milestone for the Royal Arch in Paraguay

Our Deputy Grand Superintendent, E.Comp. Richard Cooper, participated in the Convocation to receive Reddish Chapter No. 3615 into the District Grand Chapter of South America, Southern Division. Originally consecrated in England in 1926, the Chapter has officially transferred its charter to Asunción, Paraguay, marking the first time the Holy Royal Arch has been established in the country.

During this landmark ceremony, the new Principals were formally installed: E.Comp. Jonathan Igulden as First Principal, E.Comp. Derlis Acosta as Second Principal, and E.Comp. Pablo Lesme as Third Principal. The arrival of this prestigious Chapter—long awaited and achieved through the dedicated effort of many Companions—is a significant milestone for English Freemasonry in the region, reflecting the growth and expansion of our District in this new era.

Our District Grand Master Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper, honoured the installation ceremony of Most Worshipful Brother José Miguel Fernández Zacur as Grand Master of the Gran Logia Simbólica del Paraguay for a new term. Representing the United Grand Lodge of England, Bro. Cooper delivered fraternal greetings and congratulations on behalf of His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, Most Worshipful Grand Master.

During his visit to Paraguay, the District Grand Master also had the distinct pleasure of installing Worshipful Brother Rolando Rojas into the Chair as Worshipful Master of Asuncion Lodge N* 10.006, enjoying the exceptional hospitality shown by the members of English Freemasonry in Paraguayan lands.

We extend our sincere appreciation for the impeccable organisation and the superb facilities of the Grand Lodge, which provided a magnificent setting for these significant events.

The District Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper, together with the Active Officers of the District Grand Lodge, received the visit of the British Ambassador to Argentina His Excellency Mr David Cairns at the seat of the District Grand Lodge of South America, Southern Division in Buenos Aires.

During the visit, the Ambassador was briefed on the wide range of activities and charitable initiatives carried out by the District, as well as on the long-standing historical ties between English Freemasonry in Argentina and the local British community.

To mark the occasion, the District presented the Ambassador with a commemorative gift, reaffirming that its doors remain open to support and host future diplomatic and community initiatives.

Our District Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper accompanied by Worshipful Brother Paul Stabholz PAGSB, DGSW, representing The Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother HRH The Duke of Kent attended the Installation Meeting of the new Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Uruguay Most Worshipful Brother Horacio Perez Toledo.
Brother Richard Cooper took the opportunity to invest Most Worshipful Brother Mario Pera Past Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Uruguay as representative of the United Grand Lodge of England with the collarette and jewel of his office.

Our District Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper, attended both Installation Meetings in Cordoba. First he acted as Installing Master in Southern Cross Lodge N* 1740 installing Worshipful Brother Mariano Jose Ruibal in the Chair of King Solomon and then Installed Worshipful Brother Eduardo Guillermo Caro in the Chair of Saint John the Baptist N* 10033.

The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Eber Gómez-Berrade, installed Excellent Companion Richard Cooper as Deputy Grand Superintendent.
That evening, the authorities of both Craft and Royal Arch reaffirmed once again, the principles of "One Journey, One Organization" in our District.

Our District Grand Master, the Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper reestablished the tradition of having the Annual Divine Service. After 18 years the venue changed to the First Methodist Evangelical Church, with attendance of Brothers of different countries and their families. We thank Brother Alejandro Mischutin Nogues for his efforts in helping in accomplish this event.

Our District Grand Master, the Right Worshipful Brother Richard Cooper, decided that for the second time in our history the District Grand Lodge Meeting was to be held in the premises of St. John’s Lodge in Lomas de Zamora. It was attended by more than sixty brethren from Punta Arenas and Valparaiso in Chile, Asuncion in Paraguay, Montevideo in Uruguay and Cordoba and Buenos Aires in Argentina.
