More than just a place to play, these public places strengthen the social infrastructure of the slums, increase the level of social cohesion of its inhabitants and create a sense of community. Early involvement of the children, their parents and other adults living in the slums, leads to cooperation and inclusion, which in turn enhances the impact and sustainability of the project. The play space is just a starting point, a platform from which these communities can create additional spin-offs of urban transformation which improve life within the slums and its integration with the wider city.
