HUJ - Voluntary Service of Armenia Main activities involve short-, medium- and long-term voluntary projects. H*J cooperates also with other governmental bodies, funds and NGOs.

H*J is a member of the Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) at UNESCO and the Alliance of European Voluntary Service organizations. • Every year 250 Armenian volunteers participate in ecological, construction, rehabilitation, cultural, aesthetic, social projects, seminars and educational workcamps abroad.
• Every summer H*J organizes international and joint workcamps in Armenia, where Armenian volunteers hand in hand with 150 foreign volunteers do ecological and renovation work, take care of sick and disabled children, contribute to the aesthetic education of orphans and lonely children.
• Every year Armenian volunteers leave for European countries to do their EVS (European Voluntary Service – Action 2 of Youth in Action Programme of European Union) with H*J as their Sending Organisation.
• European long-term EVS and Weltwärts (voluntary service supported by Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany) volunteers are hosted in projects in 7 Host Organisations supported by H*J.
• H*J organizes joint projects with UN agencies: UNDP, UNWFP, UNHCR, UNICEF; with OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and with foreign embassies in Armenia.
• H*J implements its activities with the RA Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Labour and Social Care and Ecology.

Our ESC long-term volunteer, Simon from Slovakia, has become an important part of Dzer Gitak Kindergarten, where he dedicates his time to supporting children through educational, creative, and playful activities.

From joining children in games and organising engaging activities to assisting teachers with everyday tasks, Simon helps create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment where children feel encouraged to express themselves, discover new things, and develop their skills. His positive attitude, creativity, and care for the children make him a meaningful member of the kindergarten community.

Through his work with young learners, he continues to improve his communication abilities, patience, flexibility, and appreciation for the role of early childhood education and intercultural learning.

Our ESC long-term volunteer, Marco from Italy, has become a valued member of Dzer Gitak Kindergarten, where he spends his days supporting children through educational and creative activities.

From playing games and organising interactive workshops to helping teachers during daily routines, Marco contributes to creating a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and grow. His enthusiasm, patience, and willingness to connect with every child make him an important part of the kindergarten community.

Every day in the kindergarten is not only an opportunity to support children's development but also a meaningful learning experience for Marco himself. Working with children helps him strengthen his communication skills, creativity, adaptability, and understanding of the importance of early childhood education and intercultural exchange.

During his volunteering journey, Walter has taken part in a wide range of environmental initiatives, contributing to awareness campaigns, educational activities, and conservation projects. Whether working alongside the WWF team or engaging with local communities, he has shown genuine enthusiasm, responsibility, and a strong commitment to environmental protection.

Our ESC long-term volunteers, Emil from Germany and Soleiman from France, have become an important part of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Center in Armenia, where children and wounded soldiers undergo long-term rehabilitation.

They support the beneficiaries during therapy sessions and spend time with them between treatments, creating an atmosphere of care, trust, and connection. Emil actively assists the rehabilitation staff with physical activities, while Soleiman uses his musical talents to engage beneficiaries by playing the guitar and introducing them to the joy of music.

Every day at the center is not only an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others but also a valuable learning experience for the volunteers themselves. Working alongside professionals and beneficiaries teaches them empathy, patience, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of the power of human connection.
