On 11 June 2026, ՀՀ Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպան - Human Rights Defender of Armenia/the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, received Monica Sandri, the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Office in Armenia.

During the meeting, the Defender highly appreciated the close and effective cooperation established with UNHCR, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts aimed at further expanding this partnership.

Anahit Manasyan presented issues related to the protection of the rights of refugees, asylum-seekers, and other forcibly displaced persons, outlining the existing challenges and the initiatives undertaken, and emphasized the importance and continuity of cooperation with UNHCR in that regard.

The Defender noted that, at the initiative of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, a Refugee Council has been established, aimed at bringing together on a single platform representatives of civil society organizations working in the field, experts, and other stakeholders. In this context, the Defender highlighted the importance of collaboration with UNHCR, underscoring the organization’s key role in ensuring the effective functioning of the Refugee Council.

Anahit Manasyan also emphasized that the Council aims to bring attention to issues concerning the rights of forcibly displaced persons, amplify their voices, and ensure their meaningful participation in discussions on policies and decisions that affect them. In this context, one of the Council’s key objectives is to promote the enhanced involvement of these groups in decision making processes.

Monica Sandri highly appreciated the collaboration established between the Human Rights Defender’s Office and UNHCR, emphasizing its importance in protecting the rights of forcibly displaced persons, as well as in ensuring their well-being and dignified life.

Monica Sandri expressed her gratitude for the meeting and reaffirmed her readiness to continue close cooperation, highlighting the significant role of the Human Rights Defender’s Office in advancing the human rights protection mandate.

Կարդացե՛ք Միգրացիայի և քաղաքացիության ծառայություն Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia և UNHCR/ՄԱԿ ՓԳՀ-ի միջև Փոխըմբռնման հուշագրի ստորագրման արարողության մասին, որը երկարամյա միասնական ջանքերի առաջնային ու կարևոր գրավական քայլն է՝ ուղղված միջազգային պաշտպանության չափանիշներին համապատասխան ապաստանի համակարգին առնչվող ազգային օրենսդրության բարեփոխմանը։

Այս նախաձեռնությունը միաժամանակ միտված է ոլորտում ներգրավված պետական մարմինների կարողությունների զարգացմանը, ինչպես նաև պատրաստվածության և համայնքային դիմակայության բարձրացմանը։

«Այսօր՝ Միգրացիայի և քաղաքացիության ծառայության հետ համատեղ ստորագրեցինք Փոխըմբռնման հուշագիր, որը մեր համատեղ ջանքերի և գործընկերության հիմնաքարն է։ Մենք շարունակելու ենք ամրապնդել ՄՔԾ-ի հետ մեր համագործակցությունը՝ ուղղված ապաստանի համակարգի և փախստականների պաշտպանության զարգացմանը՝ միաժամանակ բարձրացնելով պատրաստվածությունն ու դիմակայունությունը։ Մեր համատեղ գործունեության առանցքում մարդասիրությունն է, մարդկային արժանապատվությունը և միջազգային պաշտպանությունը», - նշեց Հայաստանում ՄԱԿ ՓԳՀ ներկայացուցիչ տիկին Մոնիկա Սանդրին։

ՄԱԿ ՓԳՀ-ն մեծապես գնահատում է իր սերտ ու արդյունավետ համագործակցությունը Միգրացիայի և քաղաքացիության ծառայության (ՄՔԾ) և ՀՀ ներքին գործերի նախարարություն - Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia հետ։ Այն խթանում է գործընկերությունն ու համակարգված գործողությունները՝ ապահովելով, որ ազգային համակարգերը լինեն դիմակայուն, և տեղահանված անձինք ընդունվեն մարդասիրությամբ, արժանապատվությամբ և ապահովված լինեն պաշտպանությամբ։

Read about the signing ceremony of the Letter of Understanding between the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia and UNHCR, which represents an important milestone in the joint efforts aimed at legislative reforms related to the asylum system in line with international protection standards.

🇦🇲🇺🇳UNHCR and its partner,🧡World Vision Armenia, were delighted to take part in and contribute to a most wonderful and festive event organized by the 🇦🇲Ministry of Internal Affairs on 1 June ~ celebration of International Children’s Day💁‍♀️🙋‍♂️ at the Rescue Service office yard in Yerevan today.

🎈This special occasion brought together children and their families for a day filled with joy, learning, and inspiration. The program featured engaging tours showcasing MIA’s work, helping to raise children’s awareness and spark interest in future👮professions. The event also included contests, concert and entertainment activities, educational games, and a variety of prizes and gifts.📚

🎉A highlight of the day was the jointly developed “Rescue Team”👨‍🚒 educational game, created within the framework of 🇺🇳UNHCR’s 🇪🇺ECHO-funded community preparedness and resilience project. This innovative game added a most interesting and cheerful atmosphere to the celebration, creating unforgettable memories for all the participants.☺️
