INDO-ARMENIAN FRIENDSHIP NGO, which is also known as IAF, is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization (NGO) officially registered in Armenia, committed to benchmark INDIA-ARMENIA relationships in the world-map. We appeal to all those people to join this group, who want to see these two great countries together. Be it Trade, Educational-Exchange, Cross-cultural relationship, Marita

l relationship, Tourism or anything else. Contacts between India and Armenia go back over 2,500 years, with evidence of an Indian community in Armenia in the 5th century BC. Armenian theologist Yeghishe (5th century) refers to the "Hindu language" as musical. Although some experts claim the existence of the Armenian community on the Malabar Coast in the 7th century, the first recorded visit is that of Armenian trader Thomas Cana who reached the Malabar Coast in 780 AD. The first guide book to Indian cities in Armenian was written in the 12th century. By the middle ages, the Armenian towns of Artashat, Metsbin and Dvin had become important centers for trade with India which exported precious stones, herbs and textiles to Armenia, and obtained hides and dyes. In 1688 Armenian merchants who had helped the British find their way to and within India were granted the status of "Free Citizens of England". Emperor Akbar married an Armenian woman (Mariam) and appointed an Armenian doctor to his household and an Armenian Chief Justice. In the 16th century, Armenian communities emerged in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Agra, where the first Armenian Church was consecrated in 1562. There is an Armenian Street in Chennai while the Armenian Church of Holy Mother is an important landmark. The Armenian community of Kolkata runs the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy. A special Armenian postage stamp in 1994 marked the 200th anniversary of the founding in Chennai of "Azdarar", the first Armenian journal in the world. Shamir Shahmiryan, a leading 18th century Armenian nationalist published his vision of the Armenian nation in Madras in 1773 ("Trap of Vanities"). Gauhar Jan of Armenian origin was the first recorded Indian classical singer. These traditional historical and cultural links have produced a vast reservoir of goodwill and warmth for India. Co-Founded by Rananjay Anand from India and Ruzanna Ashughyan Anand from Armenia. So come and let's join our hands together for the greatest INDO-ARMENIA relationship. Dear Friends,

Today is the birthday of Sayat Nova Armenian poet and ashug , master of love lyrics.๐Ÿ™

He was officially recognized as the greatest as though (folk singer-songwriter) that ever lived in the Caucasus (the area between the Black and the Caspian sea, shared among current Armenia, Russia, Georgia). The world-famous Armenian composer Alexander Arutiunian wrote an opera called "Sayat Nova". Named after him are a music school in Yerevan.

The 1968 art film "Sayat Nova" directed by Sergei Parajanov - which was banned in the USSR - follows the poet's path from his childhood wool-dying days to his role as a courtier and finally his life as a monk. It was released in the United States under the title The Color of Pomegranates. It is not so much a biography of Sayat Nova but a series of tableaux of Armenian costume, embroidery and religious ritual interspersed with scenes and verses from the poet's life.

It has already been nearly a century since June 1 was proclaimed ''Childrenโ€™s Day'' at the ''World Conference for the Well-being of Children'' in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1925, with the goal of highlighting the needs of children. More and more countries have joined the initiative since its launch, showing their support to youngsters and helping to end the problems they face in society.

The date of June 1st is used by many ex-Soviet countries as ''The International Day for Protection of Children'' was established on 1 June 1950 following the Women's International Democratic Federation's congress in Moscow that took place in 1949.

After the adaptation of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1954, United Nations announced November 20 as Universal Children's Day.

Children's Day is celebrated across India to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children. It is celebrated on 14 November every year as a tribute to India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who advocated for children to have fulfilled education.

Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO we wish a very enjoyable day for the children all over the world.

May the innocence that they hold, stays forever in their pure heart and bring the best out for each and every one of them.

Happy Childrenโ€™s Day to everyone celebrating. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

May 28 is celebrated as the day of the Armenian First Republic. By the declaration of the First Armenian Republic the statehood that was lost more than for 5 centuries was restored. The declaration of the first Armenian Republic was possible due to the victories of the Armenian forces in the May battles (Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, Gharakhilisa).

By their victory over Turkish army on May 26 in Sardarapat the Armenian forces managed to prevent the Turkish invasion to Transcaucasia and save Armenia from complete destruction. This was at a time when the Armenian Genocide was still ongoing.

The first Armenian Republic only lasted for two years when it was incorporated into the USSR. However, it cemented Armenian statehood and created a permeant homeland for Armenians, although much smaller.

We wish all our Armenian friends across the globe a very happy Republic Day. May peace reign on her territories and may Armenia grow from strength to strength.

Tagore ji was Indiaโ€™s first Nobel Laureate. He was awarded the prize in 1913 "because of his profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse, by which, with consummate skill, he has made his poetic thought, expressed in his own English words, a part of the literature of the West."

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide when over 1.5 million Armenians were massacred in a state-sponsored and organised pogrom against Christian minorities by the erstwhile Ottoman Empire.

To this day, the Turkish authorities continue to deny the Genocide despite the fact that it has been documented, recognized, and affirmed in the form of media and eyewitness reports, laws, resolutions, and statements by many states and international organizations.

We pay homage to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and urge all Governments to condemn and recognize this major crime against humanity.

Lest We Forget. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
