We appeal to all those people to join this group, who want to see these two great countries together. Be it Trade, Educational-Exchange, Cross-cultural relationship, Marita

l relationship, Tourism or anything else. Contacts between India and Armenia go back over 2,500 years, with evidence of an Indian community in Armenia in the 5th century BC. Armenian theologist Yeghishe (5th century) refers to the "Hindu language" as musical. Although some experts claim the existence of the Armenian community on the Malabar Coast in the 7th century, the first recorded visit is that of Armenian trader Thomas Cana who reached the Malabar Coast in 780 AD. The first guide book to Indian cities in Armenian was written in the 12th century. By the middle ages, the Armenian towns of Artashat, Metsbin and Dvin had become important centers for trade with India which exported precious stones, herbs and textiles to Armenia, and obtained hides and dyes. In 1688 Armenian merchants who had helped the British find their way to and within India were granted the status of "Free Citizens of England". Emperor Akbar married an Armenian woman (Mariam) and appointed an Armenian doctor to his household and an Armenian Chief Justice. In the 16th century, Armenian communities emerged in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Agra, where the first Armenian Church was consecrated in 1562. There is an Armenian Street in Chennai while the Armenian Church of Holy Mother is an important landmark. The Armenian community of Kolkata runs the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy. A special Armenian postage stamp in 1994 marked the 200th anniversary of the founding in Chennai of "Azdarar", the first Armenian journal in the world. Shamir Shahmiryan, a leading 18th century Armenian nationalist published his vision of the Armenian nation in Madras in 1773 ("Trap of Vanities"). Gauhar Jan of Armenian origin was the first recorded Indian classical singer. These traditional historical and cultural links have produced a vast reservoir of goodwill and warmth for India. Co-Founded by Rananjay Anand from India and Ruzanna Ashughyan Anand from Armenia. So come and let's join our hands together for the greatest INDO-ARMENIA relationship. Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO pays tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore ji on his birth anniversary.

Tagore ji was India’s first Nobel Laureate. He was awarded the prize in 1913 "because of his profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse, by which, with consummate skill, he has made his poetic thought, expressed in his own English words, a part of the literature of the West."

May he continue to inspire millions. 🇮🇳🙏🇦🇲

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide when over 1.5 million Armenians were massacred in a state-sponsored and organised pogrom against Christian minorities by the erstwhile Ottoman Empire.

To this day, the Turkish authorities continue to deny the Genocide despite the fact that it has been documented, recognized, and affirmed in the form of media and eyewitness reports, laws, resolutions, and statements by many states and international organizations.

We pay homage to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and urge all Governments to condemn and recognize this major crime against humanity.

Lest We Forget. 🙏🙏🙏

Happy Motherhood and Beauty Day!

💐The “Month of Women”, which started with International Women’s Day on 8 March, is coming to an end in Armenia with the Day of Motherhood and Beauty on 7 April. That is how locals call this month, both seriously and jokingly.

😇Since 1995, this church celebration has been listed as a public holiday. On 7 April, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (The announcement by the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and give birth to Jesus Christ). In all Armenian churches a special service, of blessing mothers, is performed.

🌺Dear Ladies, Mothers, Sisters, Daughters !!! On behalf of Indian Cultural Center we wish you all the love and smiles which you so deserve. May your life be beautiful, like a spring day: clear and bright! May happiness and prosperity reign in your families!

🌷Thank you for your patience, your encouragement, your strength, your generosity, your care and unswerving love.

Thanks for being the greatest!

Today is Mahavir Jayanti, one of the most important religious celebrations for Jains across the world and majorly in India. This day marks the birth of Lord Mahavir, who was the 24th and the last Tirthankara of the Jain faith, and the son of King Siddhartha and Queen Trisala.

According to the Swetambar sect of Jainism, he was born on the 13th day of the Hindu calendar month Chaitra in 599 BC in Kundalagrama, Bihar. As against this, Digambar Jains believe that his birth took place in 615 BC. As per the Gregorian calendar, Lord Mahavir’s birth is celebrated in the month of March or early April. So, in the year 2021, it’ll be celebrated on the 25 th of April.

Lord Mahavir was born as prince Vardhamana and belonged to the Ikshvaku Dynasty. Even though he was destined to be an emperor, he left his home at the age of 30 in search of truth in the world and gave up all the worldly possessions including clothing. He lived an ordinary and ascetic life, moving from place to place, meditating and fasting. Through his travels, he learnt about the various pains and sufferings endured by humans and ultimately achieved enlightenment. After attaining enlightenment, he continued his travels, preaching the concept of absolute freedom from the cycle of birth, life, pain, misery, and death – and how anyone can achieve Moksh.

Lord Mahavir based a lot of his teachings on scientific facts of nature and the true meaning of life. The spiritual and moral greatness of Lord Mahavir’s teachings impressed a lot of people not only in India but all over the world. He founded Jainism – a simple religion, free of the various ritual intricacies and inspired many people to follow his path. His teachings are still supported by not only Jains but also by multiple communities across the globe.

We at Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO wish all our Jain friends a very Happy Mahavir Jayanti.

May Lord Mahavir bless and watch over your homes and your loved ones.

ARMENIAN CHURCH CELEBRATES PALM SUNDAY/ TSAKHKAZARD 💐🎉

🔸One week before the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Armenian Church celebrates the Feast of Palm Sunday, celebrating the Triumphant Entry of Christ into Jerusalem.

🔸Jesus comes into Jerusalem riding atop a donkey and the people gather to meet Him with reverence, thus fulfilling the words of the prophet from the Old Testament.

🔸On His arrival, a large crowd of people gathers to greet Him, and spread their cloaks on the road before Him, while others cut branches from palm trees and place them on the path. The crowd exclaims: “Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the Name of the Lord” (Jn 12:13).

🔸Several years ago, by the order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Palm Sunday was declared as the Blessing of Children Day.

🔸On Palm Sunday, churches are decorated with branches from willow trees and palm trees. Following a solemn morning service, the blessed branches are distributed to the faithful. This passage from the Gospels reminds about the Coming of Christ, and teaches people to live in a manner that can make them worthy to stand before the Lord and exclaim: “Hosanna (Praise God)! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

🔸On behalf of Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO, we wish you a Blessed Palm Sunday. May the blessings of the Lord and His guiding light shine over you on Palm Sunday and always

Happy Palm Sunday. 🇦🇲❤🇮🇳
