🌱 How does the Anthropocene change the way we write about nature? What is nature writing, and how might Armenian literature and writing engage with, challenge, or expand this genre?
We invite writers, journalists, researchers, academics, and others working with writing to participate in a workshop and public discussion with Dr Simon Probst. Against the backdrop of Armenia’s upcoming hosting of COP17, the programme offers an opportunity to reflect on how literature and writing can contribute to contemporary environmental debates.
Through two workshop sessions and a public discussion, we will explore contemporary approaches to writing about nature, ecology, and environmental change, with a particular focus on the relationship between literary practice and the environmental challenges of our time.
The first session will examine the concept of the Anthropocene and its implications for literature and writing. The second session will focus on the genre of nature writing, exploring its histories, contemporary developments, and the ways Armenian literary and cultural perspectives might contribute to or reshape existing understandings of the field.

Writing Nature in the Anthropocene
We welcome applications from writers, journalists, literary scholars, students, researchers, academics, scientists, and others interested in the intersections of literature, writing, ecology, and the environment.
No specific academic background is required.
The workshop will be conducted in English.

Dr Simon Probst is a literary and cultural scholar at the University of Vechta, Germany. His research focuses on literature, ecology, climate change, the Anthropocene, and the Environmental Humanities. He is co-editor of Climatic Subjects: Cultural Interventions, Writing Climate, and a Burning Planet (2024).

🌱 Ինչպե՞ս է Անթրոպոցենը փոխում բնության մասին գրելու ձևերը։ Ի՞նչ է «nature writing»-ը, և ինչպե՞ս կարող են հայկական գրականությունն ու գրելու ավանդույթները մասնակցել, վերաիմաստավորել կամ ընդլայնել այս ժանրը։
Հրավիրում ենք գրողներին, լրագրողներին, հետազոտողներին, ակադեմիական ոլորտի ներկայացուցիչներին և ոլորտի բոլոր հետաքրքրվածներին մասնակցելու դոկտոր Սիմոն Պրոբստի հետ անցկացվող աշխատարաններին և հանրային քննարկմանը։ COP17-ին ընդառաջ՝ ծրագիրը հնարավորություն է տալիս քննարկելու, թե ինչպես կարող են գրականությունն ու գրելը արձագանքել ժամանակակից բնապահպանական մարտահրավերներին։
Երկու սեմինարների և հանրային քննարկման ընթացքում կանդրադառնանք բնության, էկոլոգիայի և շրջակա միջավայրի փոփոխությունների մասին գրելու ժամանակակից մոտեցումներին։ Առաջին սեմինարը նվիրված կլինի Անթրոպոցենի գաղափարին և դրա ազդեցությանը գրականության վրա, իսկ երկրորդը՝ «nature writing» ժանրի պատմությանը, արդի զարգացումներին և հայկական տեսանկյունների հնարավոր ներդրմանը։

Ուրախ կլինենք հյուրընկալել գրողներին, լրագրողներին, գրականագետներին, ուսանողներին, հետազոտողներին, գիտնականներին և բոլոր նրանց, ովքեր հետաքրքրված են գրականության, գրելու, էկոլոգիայի և շրջակա միջավայրի փոխկապակցվածությամբ։
Նախնական մասնագիտական պատրաստվածություն չի պահանջվում։ Սեմինարը կանցկացվի անգլերեն լեզվով։
