“The language of peace is a choice.”
Not only does Gohar Grigoryan from Armenia choose it herself – she is helping her peers do the same: learning to relate to one another, listen without judgment, and communicate respectfully.
As young people’s leadership in peace and security takes the spotlight today at the United Nations first Peacebuilding Week, it is urgent that commitments to activists like Gohar are matched by a real shift in trust, power and resources.
▶️Hear directly from Gohar as she presents the resource she launched with our partner, Public Journalism Club (PJC) Հանրային լրագրության ակումբ (ՀԼԱ): the first Armenian‑language guide on nonviolent communication.
Her work shows that when young people are treated as partners, not just participants, they turn ideas for peace into practical tools their communities can use.
When efforts like these are scaled and resourced, they move societies closer to inclusive, lasting peace.
