🇮🇳 : Hindu nationalist rally calls for church-free Indian state 🚨

A deeply alarming public event in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has sent shockwaves through India’s religious minorities after speakers openly called for the eastern state to be made completely free of churches.

Seated in the audience was Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, alongside former federal education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Mr. Pradhan had resigned just days before, amid the largest protests against India’s Hindu nationalist government in years.

The Hindu nationalist event was held to launch a biography honoring Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati, a sectarian leader whose aggressive anti-conversion campaigns remain historically tied to some of India's worst bloodshed against Christians.

Following Saraswati's murder by Marxist insurgents in 2008, false rumors blaming local Christians triggered weeks of horrific violence in Odisha's Kandhamal district, killing close to 100 people, displacing 54,000, and destroying hundreds of churches.

CSI delivers reports to the United Nations 🇺🇳

Christian Solidarity International submitted two reports to the UN Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review, highlighting severe human rights abuses in Syria and Sudan.

The reports provide civil society input for the upcoming country reviews. They aim to hold both governments internationally accountable.

🇸🇾 Syria: the report on focuses on arbitrary detentions of religious and ethnic minorities under the current government. It highlights the case of Suleiman Khalil, a Christian former mayor held in prison for nearly 20 months. The report also notes a rise in disappearances of minority women, including an Alawite medical student.

🇸🇩 Sudan: the report on details ongoing persecution of Christians. Sudanese Armed Forces have targeted the Nuba Mountains region with drone strikes. One specific strike targeted a Christmas procession. These escalating attacks have forced churches to alter service times to avoid being targeted.

CSI has been helping to identify and liberate the victims for the last 30 years. This is one of our most critical humanitarian initiatives.

Tens of thousands of enslaved people have been freed. And many more are still being liberated, as our project partners continue to find more cases and release the victims.

Together in Prayer 🙏

Every Sunday we pray for the oppressed and persecuted.

This week we travel to 🇵🇰

Sabir, 24, a brick kiln worker, was forcibly converted to Islam in March 2024. After receiving false promises of employment, he was held captive in Lahore for over two years. Just before Sabir was finally freed in May 2026, his father died, his heart broken by the separation from his son.

We pray for healing for Sabir following his ordeal, and for all victims of forced conversion in Pakistan.

Prayer for Peace 🙏

Join us in prayer as we gather together to strengthen our community spirit ✨

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, lifting up all those who are imprisoned because of their faith in You.
You know every tear they have shed, every injustice they have endured, and every prayer they have whispered in the darkness.
Surround them with Your unfailing love and fill them with the peace that surpasses all understanding.
When they feel isolated, remind them that You are always with them.
When they are weary, renew their strength.
When they face fear, grant them courage through the presence of Your Holy Spirit.
Lord Jesus, You know what it means to suffer injustice. Be their comfort, their refuge, and their hope.
Protect them from harm, sustain their families, and strengthen all who stand beside them in faith.
We pray for those who hold power over them. Soften hearts hardened by hatred, replace violence with compassion, and guide leaders and authorities to act with justice and mercy.
Bring an end to persecution and open the doors that keep the innocent captive.
We ask for peace in Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, South Sudan, Myanmar, India, Iran, Lebanon, and throughout the world.
May every person be free to worship You according to their conscience without fear of violence, discrimination, or imprisonment.
May Your Church, all of us, and Christians around the world continue to stand in faithful solidarity with all who suffer for Your name, never ceasing to pray, to advocate, and to love.
Unite us as one Body in Christ, strengthening our faith and our commitment to support our persecuted brothers and sisters wherever they may be.
We place our trust in You, knowing that no prison can separate Your children from Your love and that Your light shines even in the darkest places.
May we be faithful witnesses of Your hope, carrying one another's burdens.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Prince of Peace.

Thus starts this emotional account by guest author Siranush Sargsyan about a people who have been expelled from their ancient land and are now witnessing from afar their churches and cultural monuments being destroyed by the invaders.

Despite being protected by international law, Azerbaijan has been razing important religious and cultural sites in Christian / Artsakh, in an overt affront to the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and covenants by UNESCO.

🇦🇲 : the destroyed cathedral of Stepanakert

The Holy Mother of God Church, the former seat of the Armenian Apostolic Church’s Diocese of Artsakh, has been destroyed by Azerbaijan.

The intricate Armenian cross-stones within the church grounds, a sacred art form known as khachkars and inscribed on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list, were also razed in April.

This was not an isolated act but part of a sustained, state-led campaign targeting Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in Artsakh / .

In December 2021, the International Court of Justice issued a provisional measure requiring Azerbaijan to halt destruction of Armenian cultural heritage.

Instead, Baku has continued its policy of deliberate erasure. Azerbaijan is systematically dismantling and erasing churches in full view of the international community, following its invasion of the historically Christian region and the forceful expulsion of 150,000 people between 2020 and 2023.
