In 1990, Tom Fitzgerald, while he and his family were working with Harvest Evangelism in "The Plan Resistencia" project, traveled to a very remote part of northern Argentina and accompanied a group of pastors and warriors,a desolate and barren area of the Gran Chaco region called "The Impenetrable". The "Gran Chaco region extends from mid-Bolivia to north of the center of Argentina, and from th
e Andes mountains to the west of Paraguay. This region has been in various forms of turmoil since the 1800s when colonials of European decent came to the region to populate it. In the spirit of colonialism there were many wars. Massacres of indigenous tribes in each of the countries sharing this geographic region were common, and as the First Nations Native tribes were losing their land to the invaders, they left historically documented curses on the land, causing it to change from fertile prairie with rich and healthy rivers, to a dry, thorn-ridden Land with salt laced soil and polluted rivers. Today the native Peoples of this land, in most instances, subsist in poverty, sharing water holes with the animals of the region, while living in pestilent conditions, with arsenic tainted water. This is a common condition in many 'westernized countries throughout the world. As a result the Indigenous People and co-residents of the lands, are finding difficulty rising out of the mindset and conditions they were born into. The vision to see this Region, called the Gran Chaco,restored it to its former beauty and the First Nations people Restored to their Honored Roles as the Caretakers of this land began in 1990 and has developed over these many years. The Team, Tom and Dana in the USA and Jeremy and Lorena Fitzgerald in Argentina, desire to see Leaders, Indigenous, Governmental and Religious brought together in a co-operative spirit to Heal their Land and their People by breaking the curses on it then working together on strategies to bring prosperity to all. Events such as bringing Native North Americans in full native regalia to this region have helped to establish good faith with the natives of this region and foster a desire for reconciliation and forgiveness. In the results of the events organized throughout the region, we have seen grass grow again, fauna and flora return, and rivers fill with fish again. Notable changes have been witnessed over the years, but there is still much to do. Reconciliation "Events" merely jump start the Healing Process. Heaven's ways need to be brought into planning and co-opertion in strategies to build for a prosperous future. We hope hope that wisdom learned in the Chaco of Argentina and related areas of South America, will assist in spreading this "People / Land Healing" move all over the world. With developing contacts in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Wales, Ireland, New Zealand, and more, it is evident that now is the time for action.
