I haven’t posted in ages..been sick, stressed, anxious…then MADE51: Crafted by refugees steps up to the plate.. After months of product development, they’ve ordered 600 of these precious 100% local Armenian sheep’s wool bag charms. And the kicker? It’s their first order from a gaggle of incredibly patient, hardworking Artsakhtsi ladies connected to Հաբ Արցախ | Hub Artsakh . Հաբ Արցախ | Hub Artsakht for us to produce quantity, in quality and on time. Thank you Anoush for making this fab prototype! And the yarn is hand spun in Amasia! This is such a rich story.

Did you know that blue elephants come from Gyumri? A client in the U.S. asked HDIF to make hundreds of these cuties. The EU got theirs a few weeks back, so now we are packing for the U.S. Yes, HDIF can make your bulk orders! We’re doing that for the U.K., Australia, Switzerland, U.S. and EU. What joy to have the whole Setian family from Boston in the HDIF office this afternoon! Truly engaging, and great questions from the young adults! Loved, as I do, storytelling about Arm.wool - the whats, whys and hows of sheep’s wool in Armenia.. We love having families like this in our office… a great motivation for us to keep working, keep innovating to create jobs around Armenia… Thank you so much!

A bit of benevolent pandemonium Saturday at the HDIF office when AMAA’s Armenia Medical Outreach 2026 group comes by! This has become a much appreciated tradition - updating the group on HDIF’s progress made since last visit, and then some enthusiastic shopping. Lots of great inquisitive questions, and a great feeling of warmth and support. Thank you!

Worked late at the HDIF office fulfilling orders for our local souvenir shop clients. At 21:40, I set off for the Sasountsi Davit metro station (now that I can pay by card!). Along the way I saw a bag of discarded sheep’s wool. Probably shifted out of somebody’s mattress. Abandoned. It struck me how ArmenianWool has been created to prevent precisely this, but on a much grander scale. This bag is maybe 2 kilos, while about 1.500.000 kilos is actually discarded in Armenia each year. I was tired after a long day, but this lonely, forlorn bag of old wool really made me think back to why Arm.wool was created, and how far we’ve come…

I slipped this With Refugees bracelet on today. It’s been on my desk for months on end.. Crafted by refugees from South Sudan, Sudan and Ethiopia, it is a symbol of unity, resilience and hope. It’s the brainchild of MADE51: Crafted by refugees, of which HDIF is a proud member. In Armenia, we work with Syrian and Artsakhtsi refugees. The skill sets are there. Hdif-Usa is carrying products made by both of these refugee groups, from Christmas ornaments to bag charms to Halloween pumpkins. The Rug Code’s first stand alone exhibition has burst open at Tumo Studios in Aram 44. Mind blowing innovation using heritage Armenian techniques. Arm.wool by HDIF is the back office, providing all the undyed hand spun natural Armenian Balbas wool yarn that The Rug Code weaves into pure magic. Runs until July 17th. You’ve got to see this!
