Day 3 | Science & Technology Park, Klagenfurt

The third day of the UNIDO-organized study visit took the Armenian delegation to Lakeside Science & Technology Park in Klagenfurt, one of Austria’s leading technology and innovation hubs.

The programme featured presentations by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, the Regional Government of Carinthia, BABEG, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and the Digital Innovation Hub South Austria. Discussions focused on Austria’s Digital Innovation Hub model, innovation financing, regional innovation governance, and collaborative approaches to strengthening industrial competitiveness.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Lakeside Science & Technology Park, including its robotics and research facilities, showcasing how close collaboration between industry, academia, and research institutions drives innovation and digital transformation.

The second meeting of Day 2 took the Armenian delegation to EIT Manufacturing, where participants explored Europe's approach to accelerating and strengthening .

Day 2 | Vienna Business Agency

As part of the UNIDO-organized study visit to Austria and Slovakia, the Armenian delegation held discussions with the Vienna Business Agency on and that foster , , and .

The session was led by Mr. Christian Frey, Head of International Business, who presented the Agency's work in strengthening Vienna's innovation ecosystem through support to startups and SMEs, international business development, investment attraction, and collaboration between the public sector, academia, and industry.

The exchange provided valuable insights into Austria's experience in developing and highlighted opportunities to further strengthen institutional cooperation and knowledge exchange in support of Armenia's digital transformation and industrial competitiveness.

📍Day 1 | Study Visit to Austria and Slovakia (29 June – 2 July 2026)

Representatives of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises-UATE and the Armenian Innovation Foundation (AIF) have commenced a four-day study visit to Austria and Slovakia, organized by UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization under the "Industrial Innovation Hub in Armenia" project.

The programme officially began at UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna, where participants were welcomed by Ms. Solomiya Omelyan, Chief of the Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia. The opening session featured an overview of the UNIDO Armenia Country Programme and strategic priorities, followed by discussions with the project team on strengthening cooperation and supporting the further development of Armenia's digital innovation ecosystem.

Throughout the study visit, participants will engage with leading innovation institutions, Digital Innovation Hubs, and technology organizations in Austria and Slovakia to exchange knowledge, explore best practices, and foster partnerships that contribute to innovation-driven industrial development in Armenia.

Armenia is taking an important step towards strengthening its and integrating into the international system.
✅ On 10 March 2026, Armenia officially became a Corresponding Member of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML)
✅ On 17 June 2026, an Associate Member of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).

🇦🇲 Հայաստանը կարևոր քայլ է կատարում որակի ենթակառուցվածքի զարգացման և չափագիտության միջազգային համակարգին ինտեգրվելու ուղղությամբ։

✅2026 թվականի մարտի 10-ին Հայաստանը պաշտոնապես դարձել է Օրենսդրական չափագիտության միջազգային կազմակերպության (OIML) թղթակցային անդամ,
✅2026 թվականի հունիսի 17-ին՝ Չափերի և կշիռների միջազգային բյուրոյի (BIPM) ասոցացված անդամ։

Այս կարևոր ձեռքբերումները նպաստում են ճշգրիտ, հուսալի և միջազգային չափանիշներին համապատասխան չափումների ապահովմանը, ինչը կարևոր նշանակություն ունի արդյունաբերության զարգացման, հայկական արտադրանքի և ծառայությունների մրցունակության բարձրացման, միջազգային շուկաներ մուտքի ընդլայնման, նորարարությունների խթանման և կայուն տնտեսական զարգացման համար։

As preparations for COP17 on biodiversity gather momentum, UNIDO took part in a high-level briefing hosted by the Permanent Mission of Armenia and addressed by H.E. Mr. Andranik Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to UNIDO, and Mr. Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, alongside representatives of Vienna-based United Nations agencies.
Ms. Rana Ghoneim, Director of the UNIDO Division of Energy and Climate Action, underscored the role of industry as a driver of nature-positive transformation, highlighting UNIDO's work on circular economy, cleaner production, eco-industrial parks and sustainable value chains to support more resilient, biodiversity-positive economies.

📢 Help Shape Armenia’s Response to Emerging Pollutants in Water

Emerging pollutants such as PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, and microplastics are becoming an increasing challenge for water quality, environmental protection, and public health.

Under the EU-funded EU4Green Recovery East programme, UNIDO is developing a National Action Plan for Armenia to address these pollutants in line with EU approaches and standards. To ensure the plan reflects national priorities and stakeholder perspectives, we are inviting experts, practitioners, policymakers, academia, civil society, and private sector representatives to contribute through a short survey.

Strengthening Armenia’s quality infrastructure through practical capacity building.
A five-day hands-on training for specialists of ARMSTANDARD’s Force Calibration Laboratory was conducted by a UNIDO expert under the EU-funded Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia project, contributing to the advancement of metrology services and technical competencies in Armenia.
