Within the framework of the joint project “Strengthening Election Reporting in Armenia,” implemented by the Yerevan Press Club and Deutsche Gesellschaft e.V., a delegation of German journalists has arrived in Armenia. Over the course of a week, they will visit state and diplomatic institutions, media outlets, and human rights and civil society organizations, as well as conduct field research.
🤝 The first working day was intense and highly productive. The study trip began with a meeting with Lars Hennig, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia. Discussions covered Armenia-Germany and Armenia-EU relations, bilateral political, cultural, and social ties, as well as issues related to elections, countering disinformation, and tackling media manipulation.
🇦🇲🇪🇺 In the second half of the day, participants met with Mane Adamyan, expert on European integration issues. The agenda focused on Armenia's EU integration process, the implementation of CEPA commitments, visa liberalization, and the EAEU-EU economic dilemmas currently facing Armenia.
🎞️ The working day concluded with a study visit to the Public Television Company of Armenia. Participants explored the studios for political programming, discussed political discourse, debate culture, and media freedom, and visited the broadcasting archives to see how key moments in Armenia's history are being restored and digitized.
📌 The project aims to empower Armenian journalists in election coverage, build resilience against disinformation, and support conflict-sensitive reporting, while fostering cross-border exchange between Armenian and German journalists and raising the visibility of Armenia's transformation in European media.
The project is implemented with financial support from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
