Building a Better Community, Together
Sisian Development Initiatives NGO began with a simple vision: creating a better future for Sisian. The NGO began when a small group of motivated women began working on various projects for the city: writing proposals, organizing clothing donations, and orchestrating youth-centric events. Ultimately, the women wanted others to know what they already knew: Sisian is a truly special and unique place; and decided the best way to do that was by forming a new NGO, one focused on developing youth, empowering women, and promoting tourism.
Officially established in 2017, Sisian Development Initiatives NGO is non-profit organization working in tourism development, youth development, and cultural preservation with an overall goal of working towards a better Sisian for future generations. Each field has its own goals and activities. Within youth development, Sisian Development Initiatives NGO has started youth clubs focused on leadership development and healthy lifestyle promotion, organized volunteering opportunities and clean-ups, and, most recently, opened a new playground in Sisian. All youth development activities have worked towards the goal of developing “civic-minded, active youth.”
In regards to our tourism development branch, Sisian Development Initiatives NGO has worked to partner local artisans with hotels to promote experiential tourism and handicraft sales within the hotels themselves. These activities have worked towards the goal of promoting experiential and adventure tourism in the region, while supporting local artisans and entrepreneurs.
