🌾🚜 Plastics in agriculture: what are the uses and consequences?

Because of their many uses, plastics are now structuring both technically and culturally the food value chains, particularly downstream: their versatility has encouraged greater complexity in their formulations, making their waste management very difficult. Their omnipresence in continental ecosystems and in the human body, and their proven impacts at all levels, therefore call into question the very possibility of making the use of plastics in agriculture and food sustainable.

More than a decade after the Paris Agreement, greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, accelerating climate change.

These emissions mostly come from the burning of fossil fuels, superheating our planet in often-disastrous ways.

The good news? Experts say humanity still has time to turn things around.
But it will take all of us.

Governments and businesses, because of their size and influence, must bear most of the burden. The world's wealthiest have a critical role too in addressing their carbon footprint — just 10% of the global population is responsible for nearly half of all emissions.

But there are things we all can do to live a more climate-friendly life.

Ahead of , swipe to explore how you can act .

🇫🇷 Discover the new resource from No plastic in my sea - Guide to Eliminating Single-Use Plastic in Sports 🏃

Like any event, sports generate plastic waste, but they can also set an example to change social norms and practices.

Trail race organizers, committed sports federations, event organizers… many of them have incorporated the reduction of single-use plastics, particularly bottles, into their practices.

In line with the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games, and following a survey of federations and event organizers, No plastic in my sea has published a guide compiling the best best practices for reducing single-use plastics in sports.

The transition to a sustainable blue economy will depend on one thing above all: the ability to connect capital with credible, scalable solutions.

On 28–29 May 2026, the Blue Economy & Finance Forum (BEFF) returns to
Monaco, bringing together investors, financial institutions, business leaders,
policymakers, philanthropic organisations and innovators to help accelerate
that shift.

will focus on the financial and economic levers needed to move
from ambition to implementation: from financing the blue economy and decarbonising shipping, to scaling blue foods and integrating ocean finance into global capital markets.

The is co-organised by Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, Musée océanographique de Monaco and Gouvernement Monaco.
