🤝 Led by the Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Besfort Lamallari, the second Steering Committee Meeting of the brought together representatives from government and international partners, the European Union in Albania, IOM and UNHCR, Albania, to review progress achieved during the project's first year and endorse priorities for 2026.

The Committee acknowledged improvement in strengthening migration governance, asylum, and inclusion, reaffirming a shared commitment to stronger institutions, effective migration and asylum management, and alignment with EU and international standards.

Funded by the European Union and jointly implemented by IOM and UNHCR, continues to support Albania's EU accession process by strengthening rights-based migration and asylum systems.

🤝 Drejtuar nga Ministri i Brendshëm Z. Besfort Lamallari, takimi i dytë i Komitetit Drejtues të projektit mblodhi përfaqësues të partnerëve institucional dhe ndërkombëtar, Delegacionit të Bashkimit Evropian, IOM dhe UNHCR për të shqyrtuar progresin e arritur gjatë vitit të parë të projektit dhe për të miratuar prioritetet për vitin 2026.

Komiteti vlerësoi progresin në fuqizimin e qeverisjes së migracionit, sistemit të azilit dhe përfshirjes, duke rikonfirmuar angazhimin e përbashkët për institucione më të forta, menaxhim efektiv të migracionit dhe azilit, si dhe përafrim me standardet e Bashkimit Evropian dhe ato ndërkombëtare.

I financuar nga Bashkimi Evropian dhe i zbatuar nga IOM dhe UNHCR, mbështet procesin e anëtarësimit të Shqipërisë në BE përmes forcimit të sistemeve të migracionit dhe azilit, të bazuara në të drejtat e njeriut.

📚 Një marrëveshje e re për partneritete të qëndrueshme 🤝
UNHCR Shqipëri dhe Universiteti "Fan S. Noli", Korçë - UNIKO kanë nënshkruar një Marrëveshje Bashkëpunimi, duke forcuar angazhimin e përbashkët mbi çështjet e refugjatëve dhe personave pa shtetësi.
E nënshkruar nga Përfaqësuesi i UNHCR, Tosh*tsuki Kawauchi, dhe Rektori Prof. Dr. Lorenc Ekonomi, marrëveshja do të mbështesë trajnime, shkëmbime akademike, kërkime të përbashkëta, si dhe shkëmbimin e njohurive dhe ekspertizës.
Ky partneritet pasqyron angazhimin e UNHCR për të forcuar praninë dhe angazhimin në nivel lokal në Shqipëri, duke e njohur Korçën si një qendër të rëndësishme arsimore dhe kërkimore.
Së bashku, po forcojmë lidhjet mes akademisë dhe praktikës për të mbështetur qasje më të informuara dhe gjithëpërfshirëse ndaj sfidave që lidhen me refugjatët dhe personat pa shtetësi.

📚 Strengthening Partnerships Through a New Memorandum of Understanding 🤝
UNHCR Albania and Fan S. Noli University of Korça have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, reinforcing collaboration on refugee and statelessness issues.
Signed by UNHCR Representative Tosh*tsuki Kawauchi and Rector Prof. Dr. Lorenc Ekonomi, the agreement will support training, academic exchanges, joint research, and the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
The partnership reflects UNHCR’s commitment to strengthening local engagement across Albania, recognizing Korçë as an important hub for learning, research, and collaboration.
Together, we are fostering stronger links between academia and practice to support more informed and inclusive approaches to refugee and statelessness challenges.

📚 UNHCR delivered a session on refugee law at , bringing together students and professors to explore key protection principles and the realities of displacement.
As future legal practitioners and professionals, their role will be essential in being both vocal and principled in advancing inclusive, rights-based responses for asylum-seekers and refugees. Creating these spaces for dialogue helps bridge theory and practice, while encouraging the next generation to approach protection challenges with stronger advocacy and a more systematic and integrated understanding of protection, grounded in both knowledge and empathy.
