Roma Versitas Albania

Roma Versitas Albania On April 8th, 2016, Roma students themselves submitted a formal registration request to form RVA.

Contribute to social inclusion and acceptance of Roma in the society and support the establishment of equal opportunities for Roma and non-Roma without discrimination. The Albanian Roma Versitas program launched in 2014, founded in response to an increasing number of Albanian Roma students in need of a centralised site from which to launch joint initiatives and to engage in both individual and col

lective development. It was designed to respond to the particular challenges of Albanian Roma people, and was established with the support and at the request of the Roma Education Fund. Roma Versitas Albania is a civil society organisation registered under the court decision No. 5347, dated May 30th, 2016.

📍 Day 2 | MemoryKeepers Youth Training – Tirana, Albania

The second day of the MemoryKeepers Youth Training focused on turning knowledge into action.

The programme began with a reflection session, where participants shared their experiences and key takeaways from the first day before continuing with a series of interactive activities.

During Creative Writing & Narrative Change, participants critically analyzed stereotypical representations of Roma communities in popular animated films and worked together to rewrite these narratives into positive, inclusive stories that promote diversity, equality, and respect.

The training then continued with the Youth Action Planning Session, where participants designed communication campaigns aimed at tackling discrimination, hate speech, and social exclusion. Working in teams, they developed campaign concepts, key messages, social media content, and awareness videos based on the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC).

The programme concluded with the Roma Youth Debate Lab, an interactive debate simulation where participants represented policymakers, civil society, the media, and Roma communities. Through discussion and argumentation, they explored public policies related to historical remembrance, Roma representation, social inclusion, and combating antigypsyism, while strengthening their advocacy, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.

Over the course of two inspiring days, more than 100 participants from across Europe came together to learn, exchange experiences, and strengthen their commitment to preserving the memory of Samudaripen and promoting human rights, inclusion, and active youth participation.

👏 Thank you to all participants, partner organizations, speakers, facilitators, and institutions for making this event a success and for contributing to the mission of the MemoryKeepers project.

Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, from the Department of Work and Social Policy, enrolled in the Master’s Programme in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change, developed this awareness-raising video as part of their academic and social engagement 🎓✨.

The video focuses on a critical and increasingly visible issue: online hate speech targeting Roma and Egyptian communities. It highlights how harmful language in digital spaces and media can reinforce stereotypes, deepen prejudice, and contribute to exclusion and discrimination. By showing how easily negative comments spread online, the video invites viewers to reflect on the real impact that words can have on individuals and communities 🗣️📱.

Roma Versitas Albania (RVA) contributed to the realization of this video by providing technical support and professional guidance in shaping both the message and the communication concept 🎬💡. As an organization committed to empowering Roma and Egyptian youth, RVA actively supports students and young people in creating initiatives that challenge hate speech and promote inclusion, equality, and respect 🤝📚.

Through mentorship programmes, trainings, and collaborations with academic institutions, RVA creates spaces where young people can develop their voices and use communication as a tool for positive social change 🌍🚀. This collaboration reflects RVA’s strong commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives that address real societal challenges and inspire change.

🗣️Words have power. Choose them to build understanding, not division. Stand against hate speech online and beyond. 🌱⚖️
