📸 On World Photography Day, we look back with fond memories at Balkan Girl Power, a regional initiative that placed cameras in the hands of 100 girls from five Western Balkan countries, empowering them to express their perspectives, reflect on their role in society, and share their vision for the region’s future through photography.
🖼️ The project culminated in a powerful photo exhibition organised in cooperation with the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) in Tirana, showcasing the creativity, talent and unique voices of young women from across the region.
🕰️ Balkan Girl Power, implemented by the Social Contract Institute under the 2nd Call for Proposals of the Western Balkans Fund, took place back in 2019. At that time, WBF managed only one grant scheme.
🌍 Today, that landscape has changed significantly. WBF now provides six grant schemes, complemented by a growing range of fellowships, mobility opportunities, regional initiatives, capacity-building activities and advocacy platforms throughout the year.
📢 Currently, the WBF Matching Grants Scheme – Summer Window is open for applications, offering organisations an opportunity to strengthen and upscale ongoing initiatives at the regional level.
📅 And there is more ahead. In September, two additional Calls for Proposals under two separate WBF grant schemes will be launched, creating new opportunities for organisations and individuals across the Western Balkans.
🔔 Stay tuned. More opportunities are coming.
