From Arendalsuka to Thu’Je Elbasan

This journey started a shared belief that democracy grows stronger when we learn from each other.

As part of Democracy in Action, we travelled to Arendalsuka in Norway to experience one of the country’s biggest spaces for public dialogue, debate and democratic participation.

We met people, explored initiatives, exchanged practices and looked at how young people, civil society, institutions and decision-makers can come together to shape conversations around the issues that matter to their communities. 🗣️🤝

It was about exchange, sharing what works in Norway, sharing what we are already doing in Albania, and exploring what we can create by bringing these experiences together.

This is where Arendalsuka meets Thu’Je – Platform for Democracy and Peace.

By connecting the experiences and ideas from our study visit with the work we are developing through Thu’Je in Elbasan, we want to explore new ways of creating spaces for dialogue, participation and meaningful youth engagement.

From Arendalsuka 🇳🇴 to Thu’Je 🇦🇱 , learning, exchanging and turning good practices into new possibilities for our communities.

Democracy in Action 🌍✨ | Intercultural Night

When different cultures meet, something special happens. 🫶
Food is shared, stories come alive, music starts playing, and suddenly… strangers become friends. 🌍✨

During our Intercultural Night, participants shared a little piece of home with everyone, from traditional dishes and dances to stories, music and traditions.

Because sometimes, the best way to understand another culture is simply to sit together, share a meal, dance a little and listen to each other’s stories. ❤️

Are you 18–25 years old and passionate about creativity, digital media, storytelling, or art?

Ready to connect with young people from across the Western Balkans, learn new skills, and turn your ideas into something meaningful?

Be part of ROOTED a project that brings together young people from Albania, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, and Serbia for a unique regional journey where creativity becomes a tool for dialogue, understanding, and reflecting on the past.

What will you experience?
🎓 Two hands-on training programmes
-Explore reconciliation, dealing with the past, and intercultural dialogue. (4-5 Sep.)
-Learn practical skills in digital media, creative writing, and visual arts. (11-12 Sep.)

🎨 Create with purpose
Work with other young people to develop creative products that tell stories, spark conversations, and reflect your perspectives.

🌍 Regional Youth Exchange in Albania
27–31 October, you will travel to Elbasan, Albania, where you will meet participants from across the region, collaborate in person, and present your creative work at a public exhibition during one of the most important democracy events.

🏆 Awards will be given to participants for their creative works.

PVN Albania is delighted to welcome our new European Solidarity Corps volunteers from France, thanks to the cooperation with Adice NGO.

Over the 2 coming months, they will work alongside our team, contribute to community initiatives, and promote solidarity, inclusion, and intercultural learning through their activities.

Two incredible days of inspiration, dialogue, and youth action! 🌍✨

Peace Volunteering Network was pleased to be part of the organizing team for the UN Youth Assembly in Kosovo 2026. Thank you UNMIK and United Youth Task Force Kosovo

This year’s edition, Youth in the Field, brought together young people from Kosovo and the Western Balkans to learn, connect, exchange ideas, and create solutions for stronger youth participation in society.

Something special is happening right now in Durrës 🌊, the Youth Exchange: Next Step Skills 🌍

Young people from 5 different countries, Albania, Georgia, N. Macedonia, Rumania and Serbia have come together for Next Step Skills, a youth exchange where learning goes beyond theory and becomes a real experience. Through games, role-plays, teamwork challenges, and shared moments, participants are exploring communication, leadership, and creative ways to solve problems together.

Every day brings new energy, new ideas, and new connections. What makes this experience even more meaningful is the inclusive space we are creating where young people with and without sensory impairments learn side by side, support each other, and grow together.

There is something powerful about seeing confidence build, voices being heard, and teamwork turning into real friendships.

This journey is being hosted in Durrës, Albania by Peace Volunteering Network, in collaboration with Babilon Travel NGO from Romania as a leading and coordinating organisation.

This project is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme.
