A moment of thank you for World Health Organization Country Office Albania!

Thank you WHO Albania for joining our theme event on climate and health, contributing therefore to the edication of the next generation of leaders.

On the theme event of SCOPH WEEK 2026, brought to Albania by ACMS, we discussed how climate change is interconnected with health. 🌱

We had voices of youth, institutions and other stakeholders in the “Climate Change in Health” theme event during SCOPH WEEK 2026 with Dr. Artan Mesi, Dr. Alban Ylli, Prof. Roshi Enver, Dr. Elwira Gliwska, Dr. Krysta Cutajar, Sabiana Seferi and their respective institutions: Organizata Botërore e Shëndetësisë në Shqipëri - WHO Albania, Instituti i Shendetit Publik, Universiteti i Mjekesise, Tirane - UMT; Physicians Association for Nutrition (PAN) International; International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations and ACMS-Albanian Committee of Medical Students.

The discussion moderated by Nensi Çela started off with the current national impacts of climate change in health, as well as those in the international level; leading up to the current curriculum and education opportunities and global action for students. PAN International also shared what PAN is doing towards healthier and more sustainable food systems and ways youth and medical students from all over the world can engage.

Meet our 25/26 team!

This is the leadership of ACMS. All of the activities, initiatives and exchanges of this year are made possible through these people and their teams, who lead 4 departments and 6 programs, while supporting members and future leaders.

We remain grateful for their ongoing efforts in advancing healthcare in Albania & the region, as well as partners that share the same vision.

ACMS successfully joined and contributed to the Baseline Data Team for Impact Evaluation of the Tirana School Streets Program, received training, data gathering and processing in 39 schools in Tirana from September 2025 to January 2026, in collaboration with Qendra Marrëdhënie, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Municipality of Tirana, Epoka University and the NYU Global TIES Foundation for Children.

Thank you Emina’s Hand Foundation for supporting 5 scolarship professional exchanges for medical students in Albania during 2025-2026.

After lots of hard work from our team, we are extremely grateful to have made this possible for academically motivated students and those who deserve a better future!

Last year we selected 6 scolarship students, but only 5 of them were able to go due to personal reasons in Lithuania, Rumania, Italy, Turkey and Portugal.

We are looking forward to continue growing these opportunities and offer modern learning experiences for future medical doctors.

A day in Anxhela’s life as an exchange student in Istanbul! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Anxhela Murati, one of the selected scolarship students from Albania was accepted in the Radiology Department in Yeditepe University Koşuyolu Hospital this March.

She was able to practice with doctors in the hospital, through advanced procedures as well as visit & enjoy Istanbul.

The scolarships were funded by Emina’s Hand Foundation (EHF) in collaboration with ACMS, aiming to advance and support youth education theough excellence.

We remain truly grateful for the support of Ms. Emina Çunmulaj, president of EHF towards our exchange programs.

This year we concluded with the People, Planet, Pages bookclub. 📚

This served as a climate-conscious book club for community building, with a focus on reading about climate change to turn despair into hope, community action, and resilience.

We read “Not Too Late” by Rebecca Solnit and Thelma Young Lutunatabua, a collection of essays on the climate crisis over 6 onsite and 6 online sessions.
