From Data to Action: Advancing Corporate Governance in Albania

On 12 October, Women on Boards Albania (WOB-AL) brought together institutional, business, and development representatives for a policy roundtable following the presentation of the WOB-AL Index 2026 Baseline Report, covering 282 Albanian companies.

The discussion highlighted three priorities for action:

🔹 Modernizing the Corporate Governance Code to strengthen governance standards and gender diversity.

🔹 Building board and executive competencies through targeted education and training.

🔹 Improving transparency and non-financial reporting, particularly on board composition.

These insights will shape WOB-AL's policy recommendations to relevant institutions, turning research and dialogue into actionable proposals.

WOB-AL Index 2026 Roundtable brings institutional leaders together for a focused discussion on governance transparency and women in decision-making.

The conversation will draw on the Index findings and focus on strengthening corporate governance structures and capacities, advancing gender diversity with the broader aim of supporting stronger governance and economic resilience in Albania.

We expect representatives from the Ministria e Ekonomisë dhe Inovacionit, Mimoza Kaci, Foreign Investors Association of Albania, American Chamber of Commerce in Albania, GIZ Albania, Center for International Private Enterprise, World Bank Albania, National Council for Civil Society, ZKM Attorneys at Law, among others, to be part of the conversation.

Meet the inaugural ALBA Sprint cohort. ✨

A milestone worth celebrating - the women who completed the first ALBA Sprint Program, bringing their experience, perspectives and ambition to conversations around board governance, fiduciary responsibility and strategic leadership.

The certificate marks the completion of ALBA, but also the beginning of what comes next: more women ready to contribute, challenge, lead and bring their voices to the boardroom.

ALBA Sprint kicks off today.

This evening at Library Babel, we welcome the inaugural ALBA cohort and officially begin three days dedicated to board leadership, governance and meaningful professional connections.

Tonight is about meeting the people behind ALBA participants, faculty and the WOB-AL community and setting the stage for the sessions ahead.

From tomorrow, the program moves into two days of focused work on board governance, board dynamics, fiduciary responsibilities, financial decision-making, digital governance and strategic leadership.

ALBA Sprint is not a general leadership course. It is built around the responsibilities and decisions that come with serving on a board. Across six sessions, participants explore how boards work, fiduciary duties and liability, financial performance and investment decisions, board dynamics, digital governance, AI and cyber risk, and the strategic challenges facing tomorrow’s boards. It is three days of focused learning, discussion and practitioner perspective in the Albanian governance context.
