United Nations Association Albania UNAA is a NGO dedicated to inform and mobilize Albanian people and youth to promote the values of UN. Who are we?

Vision: We aspire for a society guided by the principles of peace, democracy and sustainability. Mission: Us at UNAA work in partnerships to enhance informed policymaking, incentivize a participatory society and engaged youth, as well as advance Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. United Nations Association Albania (UNAA) is a Civil Society Organization dedicated to informing, inspiring, and

mobilizing the Albanian "people" to support and promote the values and activities of the United Nations. Since the 24th of October 2016, a diverse group of young Albanians passionate about youth engagement and the United Nations decided to join their endeavors to create and foster a UN community in their country. Throughout its functioning, UNAA has been engaged in numerous projects, including: "Building Partnership for Youth, Peace, and Security"; MUN Albania Initiative; Coffee Talks Series; UN75 Anniversary Initiative, Albanian UN Youth Delegate Programme; and most recently, “UNYA Albania – Upgrading Youth Skills for Sustainable Action” Project, funded by the European Endowment for Democracy. Through activities, such as seminars, webinars, roundtables workshops, conferences, publications, and simulations of the international decision-making bodies, UNAA aims at promoting multilateralism, structured dialogue at the national, regional and international levels, help understand and locally act upon the Sustainable Development Goals, and serve as a tool for non-formal education fostering the spirit of cooperation and volunteerism. Through their work, UNAA aims to be positioned as:
- A key actor fostering civic engagement on sustainable development.
- An avid campaigner of interest in policy-making.
- A key promoter of youth participation and representation at the national and international level.

I shoqëruar live nga muzikanti dhe kompozitori Markelian Kapidani 🎹, filmi u rikthye në formën e tij origjinale si një përvojë kolektive ku imazhi dhe muzika ndërtojnë së bashku ritmin, tensionin dhe emocionin e narrativës. Për një mbrëmje, publiku pati mundësinë të përjetojë një nga veprat themeluese të historisë së kinemasë 🎞️ në mënyrën më të afërt me atë të shfaqjeve të para të filmit pa zë.

Kino-koncerti krijoi një hapësirë takimi mes trashëgimisë filmike dhe praktikës bashkëkohore ✨, duke dëshmuar se filmat e arkivit vazhdojnë të flasin me forcë edhe sot, kur rikthehen në dialog me publikun dhe artistët e së tashmes. 🎬

🎼🎬 The Concert Hall at the University of Arts welcomed a full audience for the second cine-concert of the “Reframing the Frame” programme, dedicated to Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog.”

Accompanied live by musician and composer Markelian Kapidani 🎹, the film returned to its original form as a collective experience where image and music work together to create rhythm, tension, and emotional depth. For one evening, audiences had the opportunity to experience one of the foundational works of cinema history in a way that closely echoed the earliest screenings of silent film. ✨🎞️

The cine-concert created a meeting point between film heritage and contemporary artistic practice, demonstrating that archival films continue to speak powerfully to audiences today when brought back into dialogue with viewers and artists of the present. 🌍🎥

Considered Hitchcock’s first truly “Hitchcockian” film, The Lodger builds a mysterious atmosphere in fog-covered London, exploring paranoia, collective fear, and the figure of the outsider. 🌫️🔍

🎞️ Dita e dytë e workshop-it “On Film Curating” u fokusua mbi proceset metodologjike dhe teorike që qëndrojnë pas ndërtimit të një programi kuratorial filmik. 🎬

Duke marrë si shembull eksperiencën e tij në “Il Cinema Ritrovato” në Bolonjë, Ehsan Khoshbakht ndau me pjesëmarrësit mënyrën se si ndërtohet një program festivali: procesin e përzgjedhjes së filmave, marrëdhënien me skuadrën kuratoriale, dinamikat e bashkëpunimit dhe mënyrën se si një program evoluon përgjatë edicioneve. 📽️ Diskutimi u ndal jo vetëm tek zgjedhja e filmave, por edhe tek ndërtimi i një narrative dhe identiteti kuratorial. ✨

Në pjesën e dytë të workshop-it, pjesëmarrësit panë dhe analizuan filma të përzgjedhur, duke diskutuar mbi elementet që secili film sillte nga pikëpamja kuratoriale dhe mbi mënyrat se si filmat mund të komunikojnë me njëri-tjetrin brenda një programi festivali. 🎞️🗣️ Përmes diskutimeve kolektive dhe analizës së përbashkët, workshop-i krijoi një hapësirë reflektimi mbi kurimin si praktikë që jo vetëm organizon filma, por ndërton kuptime, marrëdhënie dhe mënyra të reja të përjetimit të kinemasë. 🌍🎥

🎞️ The second day of the “On Film Curating” workshop focused on the methodological and theoretical processes behind building a film curatorial program. 🎬

Using his experience at Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna as a point of reference, Ehsan Khoshbakht shared with participants how a festival program is constructed: the process of film selection, the relationship with the curatorial team, the dynamics of collaboration, and the ways in which a program evolves throughout different editions. 📽️ The discussion focused not only on the selection of films, but also on the construction of a curatorial narrative and identity. ✨

In the second part of the workshop, participants watched and analyzed selected films, discussing the elements each film brought from a curatorial perspective and the ways films can communicate with one another within a festival program. 🎞️🗣️ Through collective discussions and shared analysis, the workshop created a space for reflection on curating as a practice that not only organizes films, but also builds meanings, relationships, and new ways of experiencing cinema. 🌍🎥

🎬✨ Dita e parë e workshop-it “On Film Curating” u zhvillua si një hapësirë e gjallë dialogu dhe reflektimi, ku pjesëmarrësit patën mundësinë të punojnë nga afër me Ehsan Khoshbakht, duke ndarë ide, përvoja dhe perspektiva mbi rolin bashkëkohor të kuratorit në kinema dhe film.

💬🎞️ Përmes një bashkëbisedimi të hapur dhe të thelluar, workshop-i trajtoi mënyrën se si filmat jo vetëm shihen, por edhe “lexohen”, si bartës të kujtesës së botës, si dokumente kulturore që kërkojnë kontekst dhe interpretim. U diskutua rëndësia e projeksioneve si përvojë kolektive, roli i komunitetit në përjetimin e filmit, si dhe dy qasje të ndryshme të kurimit: njëra që synon të mbledhë publikun rreth filmit dhe tjetra që e filtron atë, duke krijuar korniza më të përzgjedhura për shikim.

📽️ Një vëmendje e veçantë iu kushtua edhe ruajtjes dhe restaurimit të filmit, si procese thelbësore për të mbajtur gjallë trashëgiminë kinematografike dhe për ta risjellë atë në dialog me të tashmen. Kjo ditë e parë shërbeu si një proces njohjeje dhe shkëmbimi, ku kurimi i filmit u shfaq si një praktikë që ndërton ura mes arkivit, publikut dhe mënyrave të reja të të menduarit për kinemanë, bazuar nga profili i ndryshëm dhe i pasur i pjesëmarrësve në workshop.

🎬✨ The first day of the “On Film Curating” workshop unfolded as a vibrant space of dialogue and reflection, where participants had the opportunity to work closely with Ehsan Khoshbakht, sharing ideas, experiences, and perspectives on the contemporary role of the film curator in cinema.

💬🎞️ Through an open and in-depth conversation, the workshop explored how films are not only watched, but also “read”, as carriers of the world’s memory, as cultural documents that demand context and interpretation. Discussions highlighted the importance of screenings as collective experiences, the role of community in engaging with film, and two distinct curatorial approaches: one that seeks to gather audiences around film, and another that filters them, creating more selective viewing frameworks.

📽️ Special attention was also given to film preservation and restoration, understood as essential processes for keeping cinematic heritage alive and bringing it into dialogue with the present. This first day served as a moment of exchange and connection, where film curating emerged as a practice that builds bridges between the archive, the audience, and new ways of thinking about cinema, shaped by the diverse and rich backgrounds of the workshop participants.

DEMOKRACIA 🗳️
Në thelb të punës sonë qëndron promovimi i demokracisë tek të rinjtë, si parim dhe praktikë e përditshme. 🌍

Përgjatë këtyre 10 viteve, UNAA, përmes programeve të saj, ka krijuar hapësira ku të rinjtë informohen dhe bëhen pjesë aktive e proceseve demokratike. Nga simulimet si Electionville, ku të rinjtë marrin rolin e vendimmarrësve dhe përjetojnë nga afër proceset demokratike, te iniciativat si MUN Albania, që i afron me mekanizmat e vendimmarrjes ndërkombëtare 🌐, demokracia është ushtruar si përvojë konkrete.

Programet si AMPLIFY: Platform for Youth Knowledge and Advocacy 📢 dhe Blueprint kanë ndërtuar ura mes të rinjve dhe politikëbërjes, duke fuqizuar zërin e tyre në debatet publike dhe në proceset e advokimit. Ndërkohë, përmes UNAA Schools 🏫, të rinj nga shkolla dhe qytete të ndryshme të Shqipërisë kanë ndërtuar struktura të mirëfillta përmes së cilave kanë mësuar organizimin, angazhimin në komunitet dhe debatin demokratik, lidhur me disa prej temave më aktuale të kohës sonë.

Përmes seminareve, debateve, konsultimeve dhe programeve të edukimit joformal në shkolla 📚, UNAA ka punuar vazhdimisht për të nxitur një shoqëri më pjesëmarrëse, ku të rinjtë janë të informuar, të përfshirë dhe të përfaqësuar.

Ky është një angazhim që vazhdon, faleminderit të gjithëve në prag të këtij 10 vjetori! ✨

DEMOCRACY 🗳️
At the core of our work lies the promotion of democracy among young people, both as a principle and as a daily practice. 🌍

Over the past 10 years, UNAA, through its programs, has created spaces where young people are informed and become active participants in democratic processes. From simulations like Electionville, where youth takes on the role of decision-makers and experiences democratic processes firsthand 🎭, to initiatives like MUN Albania, which bring them closer to international decision-making mechanisms 🌐, democracy has been practiced as a tangible, lived experience.

Programs such as AMPLIFY: Platform for Youth Knowledge and Advocacy 📢 and Blueprint have built bridges between young people and policymaking, empowering their voices in public debates and advocacy processes. Meanwhile, through UNAA Schools 🏫, young people from different schools and cities across Albania have developed structured platforms through which they have learned organization, community engagement, and democratic debate on some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Through seminars, debates, consultations, and non-formal education programs in schools 📚, UNAA has continuously worked to foster a more participatory society, one where young people are informed, engaged, and represented.

Në Kolegjin Preka, të Korçës, Klubi i Qytetarisë Globale po kthehet në një hapësirë gëluese diskutimi dhe angazhimi 💬

🌍 Gjatë vizitës së Kristel Hasanit dhe Deborah Likës, nxënësit u fokusuan në tema të të drejtave të njeriut, duke reflektuar mbi çështje aktuale si konfliktet dhe ndikimin e tyre. Përmes debateve dhe aktiviteteve kreative me imazhe, çdo nxënës pati mundësinë të shprehej dhe të prezantonte punën.

🙌🏻 Një element që, padyshim, e bën këtë klub të veçantë prej të tjerëve është struktura organizative të zgjedhur nga nxënësit, me një bord drejtues (president + 2 zëvendëspresidentë), që mban gjithçka në lëvizje dhe i jep vazhdimësi aktiviteteve.

At Kolegji Preka, the Global Citizenship Club is becoming a real space for discussion and engagement 💬

🌍 Students focused on human rights issues, reflecting on current topics such as conflicts and their impact, through debates and image-based creative activities, where every voice had space.

🗣️ During the presentation of the club’s work, it became clear how active they have been: organizing debates on topics they chose themselves and leading the discussions, taking full ownership of the process.

🙌🏻 Another element that makes this club stand out is its structure, with a student board (president + 2 vice presidents) that keeps everything moving and ensures continuity.

🌱 This is exactly what UNAA Schools is about: a space where young people speak up, debate, organize, and shape their own way of understanding and impacting the world around them ✨

The Global Citizenship Clubs network continues to grow and take shape through the active engagement of young people. This time our stop was at , where students’ energy and initiatives speak for themselves! 📚

🙌🏻 Students presented the activities developed throughout the academic year, including the organization of and debates on key global issues, as well as their experiences through institutional visits to UNICEF and the Parliament of Albania 🤝

🌍 A key moment of the meeting was the debate on disinformation, linked to the , where students reflected on the impact of misinformation and their responsibility as active citizens. UNAA Schools is becoming a real space for action, where young people take the floor, analyze reality, and build perspectives for the future. 🌱✨

UNAA SCHOOLS X UNYD 💬🌍
Në kuadër të UNAA Schools, Alesia Dodaj, një prej Delegateve të reja të Shqipërisë në Kombet e Bashkuara, iu bashkua takimit me nxënësit e Kolegjjt Turgut Ozal.

🗣️ Së bashku me nxënësit, ajo zhvilloi aktivitetin interaktiv “Tree of Solutions” , ku u identifikuan sfidat kryesore me të cilat përballet rinia shqiptare dhe propozuan zgjidhje konkrete që do të donin të shihnin nga vendimmarrësit, duke krijuar një hapësirë dialogu të drejtpërdrejtë dhe reflektues.

🤝 Ky moment vjen si rezultat i bashkëpunimit të vazhdueshëm mes programeve të UNAA-s, duke dëshmuar një rrugëtim të qartë zhvillimi për të rinjtë, nga angazhimi në shkollë, drejt përfshirjes në iniciativa më të gjera ndërkombëtare si Programi i Delegatëve.

UNAA Schools po kthehet në një hapësirë reale veprimi, ku të rinjtë jo vetëm mësojnë dhe reflektojnë, por edhe rriten brenda një ekosistemi që i fuqizon të marrin rol aktiv në shoqëri 🌱✨

Within the framework of UNAA Schools, Alesia Dodaj, one of Albania’s Youth Delegates to the United Nations, joined the meeting with students from Turgut Ozal College.

🗣️ Together with the students, she led the interactive activity “Tree of Solutions”, where key challenges faced by Albanian youth were identified and concrete solutions were proposed, solutions they would like to see from decision-makers, creating a space for direct and reflective dialogue.

🤝 This moment is the result of ongoing collaboration between UNAA’s programs, demonstrating a clear development pathway for young people—from engagement at school level to participation in broader international initiatives such as the Youth Delegates Programme.

UNAA Schools is becoming a real space for action, where young people not only learn and reflect, but also grow within an ecosystem that empowers them to take an active role in society 🌱✨

🎬 Kush do ta udhëheqë workshop-in?
Kemi kënaqësinë të mirëpresim Ehsan Khoshbakht si mentor të workshop-it “On Film Curating” në kuadër të “Reframing the Frame”.

Një figurë e spikatur në fushën e kurimit të filmit, Ehsan është Drejtor i festivalit të njohur “Il Cinema Ritrovato” në Bolonjë dhe kurator i programit të filmave arkivorë në “Festivalin e Filmit të Locarnos”, dy nga platformat më të rëndësishme ndërkombëtare kushtuar trashëgimisë filmike dhe kulturës së kinemasë.

Puna e tij qëndron në kapërcyell mes arkivave, programimit dhe diskursit bashkëkohor mbi filmin.

Përmes këtij workshop-i, pjesëmarrësit do të kenë një mundësi unike për të punuar drejtpërdrejt me një kurator të njohur ndërkombëtarisht, duke fituar njohuri mbi praktikat, përgjegjësitë dhe potencialin krijues të kurimit të filmit.

🎬 Who will lead the workshop?
We are pleased to welcome Ehsan Khoshbakht as the mentor of the “On Film Curating” workshop within Reframing the Frame.

A leading figure in the field of film curation, Ehsan is the Director of the renowned Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival in Bologna and curator of the film archive programme at the Locarno Film Festival, two of the most important international platforms dedicated to film heritage and cinematic culture.

His work operates at the intersection of archives, programming, and contemporary film discourse.

Through this workshop, participants will have a unique opportunity to work directly with an internationally recognised curator, gaining insight into the practices, responsibilities, and creative potential of film curation.
