In this cine-concert, music enters into dialogue with the moving image, bringing a new rhythm and emotional dimension to the film. Join us to experience cinema as a shared event, where screening and musical performance meet in the same space.

🎬 “The Red Shoes” Screening and conversation with Ian Christie

How much of our lives can we devote to art? In Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s “The Red Shoes” (1948), this question unfolds through a drama in which creative passion, love, and power over the artist become inseparable.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, the film follows the young ballerina Victoria Page, played by Moira Shearer, as she navigates her dedication to dance and her desire for a life beyond the stage.

Join us for a screening of this remarkable work, with an introduction and Q&A with Ian Christie, film historian, curator, and Albanian Cinematheque Scholar-in-Residence.

The screening is part of “Reframing the Frame” and the Film Industry Forum programme, taking place on October 11–12.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with Ian Christie about the cinema of Powell and Pressburger.

Kujt i drejtohen festivalet dhe sa hapësirë krijojnë për edukimin filmik të komuniteteve?

“Reframing the Frame” presents the Film Industry Forum, bringing together film professionals, researchers, institutional representatives and guests from the region and the United Kingdom.

Following workshops, screenings and research into film-viewing practices in Albania, the forum takes the conversation towards cultural policy. What infrastructure do we need, what role does independent criticism play, and how can we build a lasting relationship between cinema and its audiences?

Through presentations of new articles in the MAPS series, and panel discussions, we will explore the legacy and possible future of Houses of Culture with Tea Mesuli, independent criticism with Arben Andoni, and the relationship between cities, festivals and audiences with Blerina Kanxha.

At the heart of the programme will be a discussion of anticipated changes in the film sector and the presentation of findings and recommendations from the policy analysis on film audience development. The programme includes a screening of “The Red Shoes”, with an introduction and Q&A with film historian and curator Ian Christie. On the second day, the event concludes with a cine-concert of “Ménilmontant”, featuring a live original score performed by Erind Bajo.

📣 Is Youth Representation Enough?
Young People’s Voices for Meaningful and Safe Participation

As part of Albania’s UN Youth Delegate Programme (UNYD) and the preparations for representation at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), the United Nations Association Albania and Albania’s UN Youth Delegates will hold a two-day youth consultation at the Atë Zef Valentini Bookstore on 17–18 September.

The event aims to gather the experiences, concerns, and proposals of young people in Albania, ensuring that the positions presented by the Youth Delegates at the United Nations directly reflect their voices and priorities. The recommendations developed over the two days will contribute to preparations for the delegates’ participation in UNGA81, their intervention in the Third Committee, and a side event dedicated to meaningful youth participation.

17 September | Meaningful Participation and Countering Hate Speech
The first day will include a youth consultation, workshops on hate speech and freedom of expression, and practical training in media literacy, developing counter-narratives, and participating safely in digital spaces.

18 September | From Youth Voice to Action
On the second day, participants will explore the mechanisms through which young people can influence policy and decision-making. Working in groups, they will develop concrete recommendations for more meaningful, inclusive, and safe participation, which will then be discussed with representatives of public institutions, UN agencies, and civil society organisations.

Zërat e të rinjve për pjesëmarrje kuptimplotë dhe të sigurt

Në kuadër të Programit të Delegatëve Rinorë të Shqipërisë në OKB (UNYD) dhe si pjesë e përgatitjeve për përfaqësimin në Sesionin e 81-të të Asamblesë së Përgjithshme të Kombeve të Bashkuara (UNGA81), më 17 dhe 18 shtator, United Nations Association Albania dhe Delegatët Rinorë organizojnë në Librarinë Atë Zef Valentini një konsultim dy ditor me të rinjtë.

Ky aktivitet synon të mbledhë përvojat, shqetësimet dhe propozimet e të rinjve shqiptarë, në mënyrë që qëndrimet që Delegatët Rinorë do të përcjellin në Kombet e Bashkuara të mbështeten drejtpërdrejt në zërat dhe përparësitë e tyre. Rekomandimet e hartuara gjatë dy ditëve do të kontribuojnë në përgatitjen e pjesëmarrjes së delegatëve në UNGA81, në ndërhyrjen e tyre në Komitetin e Tretë dhe në aktivitetin anësor kushtuar pjesëmarrjes kuptimplotë të të rinjve.

Dita e parë do të përfshijë konsultim rinor, punëtori mbi gjuhën e urrejtjes dhe lirinë e fjalës, si dhe trajnim praktik mbi edukimin mediatik, krijimin e kundërnarrativave dhe pjesëmarrjen e sigurt në hapësirat digjitale.

Gjatë ditës së dytë, pjesëmarrësit do të shqyrtojnë mekanizmat përmes të cilëve të rinjtë mund të ndikojnë në politika dhe vendimmarrje.
