Democracy Talks: Liria e Fjalës në Shoqëritë Demokratike

Diskutimi i radhës i organizuar nga shoqata e ish-pjesëmarrësve shqiptarë në programet e shkëmbimit në Shtetet e Bashkuara (AUSA), në bashkëpunim me Western Balkans University dhe si pjesë e projektit prestigjioz Alumni Engagement and Innovation Fund, trajtoi temën e lirisë së fjalës dhe rëndësinë e saj në demokraci. Panelistët e ftuar, Lutfi Dervishi, Mentor Kikia, dhe Erlis Çela ndanë perspektivat e tyre mbi angazhimin qytetar dhe ndikimin e medias në shoqëritë demokratike, duke u fokusuar në lirinë e fjalës, dezinformimin në rrjetet sociale dhe mediat online, mungesën e medias së lirë dhe të mirëfilltë, ndikimin e qeverive në censurimin e fjalës së lirë, “slaktivizmin” e shoqërisë dhe mungesës së edukimit mediatik. Pjesëmarrësit shtruan pyetjet e tyre në lidhje me median dhe fjalën e lirë, për të cilat morën përgjigje nga të ftuarit.

Democracy Talks: Freedom of Speech in Democratic Societies

The latest organized by the Albanian-United States Alumni Association (AUSA) in partnership with Western Balkans University and as part of the prestigious Alumni Engagement and Innovation Fund project focused on the role of freedom of speech in democracy. The panelists, Lutfi Dervishi, Mentor Kikia, and Erlis Çela shared their insights on civic engagement and the media’s influence in democratic societies, focusing on free speech, disinformation in social media and online media, the lack of free and proper media, the influence of the government on censuring the free speech, the slacktivism of the society and the lack of media literacy. Participants asked questions regarding free speech and media, for which they got the answers from the guests.

🇦🇱 Biseda e dytë e organizuar nga shoqata e ish-pjesëmarrësve shqiptarë në programet e shkëmbimit në Shtetet e Bashkuara (AUSA) gjatë Javës Ndërkombëtare të Arsimit theksoi rolin transformues të programeve të shkëmbimit në jetën e të diplomuarve dhe kontributin e tyre në forcimin e demokracisë. Ish-pjesëmarrës nga programe të ndryshme shkëmbimi të Departamentit të Shtetit të ShBA ndanë historitë e tyre dhe diskutuan ndikimin pozitiv të këtyre përvojave në udhëtimet e tyre profesionale dhe kontributet në demokraci. Si e ftuar speciale, Zëvendës Shefja e Zyrës për Marrëdhëniet me Publikun Jen Curatola nënvizoi fuqinë e rrjetit të të diplomuarve dhe nevojën për t’u bashkuar për t’i kthyer idetë në ndryshim kuptimplotë.

🇺🇸 The second Democracy Talk organized by the Albanian-United States Alumni Association (AUSA) during International Education Week highlighted the transformative role of exchange programs in alumni’s lives and their contribution to strengthening democracy. Alumni from various U.S. Department of State exchange programs shared their stories and discussed the positive influence of these experiences on their professional journeys and democratic contributions.  As special guest, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer Jen Curatola underscored the power of the alumni network and the need to come together to turn ideas into meaningful change.
