Late April to May and mid September to October is the best time to visit the warm and uncrowded Albania. If you need any advice on sailing into Albania or cruising along the Albanian coastline, pls let us know.

Entering Saranda port and clearing in
For all vessels, the clearance procedure is mandatory in Albania. Before your arrival, it is advised to contact an agent and provide him/her with the boat certificate of registry, passport copies/crew list and boat insurance. The use of an agent to complete the clearance in and out formalities is also compulsory.
When approaching the port, you need to contact the harbour master of Saranda on VHF Channel 11 to ask for permission to enter the port. The harbour master on VHF 11 or the agent will provide you with anchoring or berthing instructions using another VHF channel.
You may stay at anchor or get a berth depending on berth availability. If you prefer anchoring, you can dinghy in to complete the formalities and tie the dinghy to the port dock, no charge is applied for the dock in this case.
Please note, as there are just a few berths and mooring buoys available, you will most probably need to drop anchor in the high season.

Qeparo beach 🇦🇱💙
Just 15 nm north of Saranda port, you can visit the village of Qeparo with its clean pebble beach. Saranda port can be used as your port of entry if you are coming from Greece or south Italy. The clearance procedure is straightforward and it takes less than an hour.
