Dorcas filloi aktivitetin e saj humanitar në Shqipëri në fund të vitit 1991, në një periudhë kur vendi përballej me nevoja të mëdha për ndihmë emergjente. Mbështetja e parë përfshinte ushqime, veshmbathje dhe materiale mjekësore për spitale. Në vitin 1992 u krijua Dorcas Aid International Albania, si pjesë e Dorcas Aid International me seli në Holandë, ndërsa aktiviteti i organizatës u regjistrua zyrtarisht në Shqipëri në vitin 1993. Prej më shumë se tre dekadash, Dorcas Albania ka evoluar nga ofrimi i ndihmës emergjente drejt programeve afatgjata që synojnë fuqizimin e njerëzve dhe forcimin e komuniteteve. Sot, Dorcas Albania punon në fushat e mbrojtjes sociale, zhvillimit komunitar, jetesës dhe sigurisë ushqimore, zhvillimit ekonomik dhe vullnetarizmit, duke integruar në punën e saj përfshirjen sociale, barazinë gjinore dhe qëndrueshmërinë mjedisore. Programet tona mbështesin fëmijë dhe të rinj, gra, të moshuar, familje në situata të vështira, fermerë, sipërmarrës të vegjël dhe grupe të margjinalizuara. Përmes trajnimeve, mundësive për punësim dhe vetëpunësim, kujdesit social, zhvillimit të aftësive, iniciativave komunitare dhe vullnetarizmit, synojmë që njerëzit të kenë më shumë mundësi për të ndërtuar një të ardhme të qëndrueshme. Dorcas Albania punon kryesisht në Korçë dhe bashkitë e rajonit, si edhe në Tropojë dhe Pukë, duke bashkëpunuar me institucione publike, organizata të shoqërisë civile, shkolla dhe universitete, biznese, komunitete lokale dhe vullnetarë. Ne besojmë se ndryshimi i qëndrueshëm krijohet kur njerëzit nuk shihen vetëm për nevojat që kanë, por për potencialin, aftësitë dhe rolin e tyre në zhvillimin e komunitetit. Për këtë arsye, puna jonë synon jo vetëm të ofrojë mbështetje, por të krijojë mundësi, të forcojë aftësitë dhe të ndërtojë komunitete më të qëndrueshme dhe gjithëpërfshirëse. About Dorcas Albania
Dorcas began its humanitarian work in Albania at the end of 1991, at a time when the country was facing significant needs for emergency assistance. The first interventions included the provision of food, clothing and medical supplies to hospitals. In 1992, Dorcas Aid International Albania was established as part of Dorcas Aid International, headquartered in the Netherlands, and the organisation was officially registered in Albania in 1993. Over more than three decades, Dorcas Albania has evolved from providing emergency relief to implementing long-term programmes focused on empowering people and strengthening communities. Today, Dorcas Albania works across social protection, community development, livelihoods and food security, economic development and volunteerism, while integrating social inclusion, gender equality and environmental sustainability throughout its programmes. Our work supports children and young people, women, older people, vulnerable families, small farmers, entrepreneurs and marginalised groups. Through training, employment and self-employment opportunities, social care, skills development, community initiatives and volunteer engagement, we aim to enable people to build more resilient and sustainable futures. Dorcas Albania currently works mainly in Korçë and the surrounding municipalities, as well as in Tropojë and Pukë, in close cooperation with public institutions, civil society organisations, schools and universities, businesses, local communities and volunteers. We believe that sustainable change happens when people are recognised not only for the challenges they face, but also for their potential, skills and ability to contribute to their own communities. Our approach therefore goes beyond providing assistance: we aim to create opportunities, strengthen capacities and support communities in becoming more resilient, inclusive and self-reliant.
