On October 20, 1736, King Court, an Akan man from present-day Ghana, was executed in St. Johnโ€™s after being accused of leading one of the most elaborate and coordinated plans to overthrow white colonial rule and abolish slavery in Antigua. The conspiracy, hatched in 1735, brought together enslaved and free Africans from more than ten major plantations in a shared pursuit of liberation.

Coming on the heels of the momentous 2nd Africa-CARICOM Summit held earlier this month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Antigua and Barbuda Reparations Support Commission (ABRSC) is delighted to announce the return of its second annual, highly anticipated Africa-Caribbean Dress Fundraising Gala Dinner on Saturday, October 4th, 2025.
The historic Africa-CARICOM Summit was more than symbolic, it was a bold step toward strategic cooperation, bridging shared history and memory with concrete institutional, economic, diplomatic, and cultural connections.
