💙💛 World Down Syndrome Day 2026 💛💙

Today, we join the global community in recognizing and celebrating individuals with Down syndrome—their strength, uniqueness, and the joy they bring to our world.

Down syndrome occurs when a person is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21, which can lead to developmental differences. There are three types: Trisomy 21, Mosaicism, and Translocation.

Thanks to improved care and inclusion, people with Down syndrome are living longer, fuller lives—contributing meaningfully to their families, workplaces, and communities.

Let’s continue to promote awareness, embrace inclusion, and support equal opportunities for all. 💫

The Kiwanis Club of Wadadli Young Professionals (KCWYP) is preparing to host its "Bite & Chat" fundraiser this Friday, February 20, as part of its ongoing mission to serve the children of Antigua and Barbuda.

Vashti Ramsey-Casimir, a dedicated member and community advocate for the club, appeared on Observer AM yesterday to discuss the event and the unique role the organization plays in the lives of local youth.

The KCWYP has been active for over 10 years, operating as part of the global Kiwanis International family. Ramsey-Casimir explained that the club’s primary mission is simple: "serving the children of the world”. She noted that the group is one of five clubs in Antigua, but stands out because it is specifically designed for busy young professionals.
