OASE (Organization of Afghans Support for Education) is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-political organization founded in December 2018 by a group of experienced and well-educated Afghans who grew up in the last four decades experiencing the difficulties of living in Afghanistan or as a refugee but made the most of what was possible. All members of the OASE board are volunteers. OASE is registere
d with Ministry of Economy under the registration number 4572 as national, non-governmental and non-profitable organization. We strive for a better future for the people of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has been going through war and civil war for the last four decades. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. Like all other sectors, the educational system has been destroyed. Many children still can’t go to school and for those, who are going, there is no quality education. Education is the backbone of a country, and educated people are the basis for having a calm and peaceful society. Almost all the parents do want their children to go to school and become literate, but unfortunately the continuation of the war has not let them reach their dreams. What is our Aim? Our aim is to empower girls, boys and local communities by supporting educational programs to achieve peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan. We cooperate closely with the communities and together we are looking for best ways to bring improvements to the education system. There are many schools still without proper buildings, furniture or teaching equipment. There is a great lack of well-trained professional teachers. It is very obvious that the educational system needs support from outside. The communities are asking us for the construction of new school buildings, for establishing training programs for teachers and, because of the present lack of qualified teachers, for educational courses for girls and boys in state schools. Our Vision: An Afghanistan with the best education system for everyone. Our Mission: To work with communities enable every Afghan child having access to good education. How we started:
Most members of the present Board of Directors were previously working with VUSAF (Union of Assistance for Schools in Afghanistan), a German NGO which has worked in the field of education since 1987. One of the aims of VUSAF is to support Afghans to help them stand on their own feet. OASE is a good example. We, the founders, decided to take this big step and, with the support of VUSAF, established an NGO which is 100 % local and independent. We want to continue working for our dreams to build up an educated nation and bring peace to the country. We know very well how important education is to bring peace in the country. We have personally experienced the loss which is caused by insecurity. Our dear friend Rahmanqul Shaheed, who bravely worked for years to educate the children of this country, was brutally murdered by the enemies of the country. Therefore, we do this in remembrance and honor of Rahmanqul Shaheed who gave his life for educating this nation.
