Afghan Literacy Organization

Afghan Literacy Organization ALO (Afghan Literacy Organization) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization working for Afghans. ALO was founded in 1995.

ALO was founded in 1995 and is registered with Ministry of Economy (Department of NGOs), Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Work and Social Affairs, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Public Health. Furthermore, SWABAC and also UNOCHA it has the partnership of the organizations, such as UNOPS, IOM, WFP, ACSF, Counterpart International,JICA.PCI,UNICEF, UNHCR,PRT ANCB

etc. The organization is an outcome of the need for evolving a suitable community development response to the socially, politically, economically and above all, psychologically affected communities that live in war-torn Afghanistan. ALO is established to work in the fields of Education, basic health care, gender, human rights, civil rights, capacity building, and sanitation, income generating activities and rehabilitation as well as emergency operations like food distribution targeting the most vulnerable Afghan people. In this regard, ALO has implemented different projects for Afghan people.
