Background
The Afghanistan Intellectual Property Association (AIPA) was formed in autumn 2
008 by a number of Afghan and international experts with the aim of protecting and prompting intellectual property in Afghanistan. AIPA Founding Members who are comprised of dedicated academics, organizations, traders and businessmen/women saw the need for an institution to protect IP rights especially protecting and utilizing inventions done by Afghans as a top priority as well as encouraging creative thinking among businesses and train the next generation of Afghans. Therefore, AIPA attempts to act as the main institution of its kind in Afghanistan to protect copyrights, patents, trademarks and any other form of property rights in Afghanistan, which is essential to the development of Afghanistan’s fast evolving business and economic growth. Our organization is dedicated to promoting a better understanding of the creation and utilization of Intellectual Property rights. We are also dedicated to educating public about the critical importance of protecting Intellectual Property Rights at national and international levels. The Intellectual Property Association's major goals are:
