Based in Kabul, Afghanistan Development & Peace Research Center (ADPRO) is an independent non-governmental, non-political organization and research body that conducts action-oriented programs mainly on peace-building, good governance, state-building and conflict resolution. ining on peace building, conflict resolution, and people and cultures. ADPRO is a capable entity with extensive access to local and international expertise. The organization has professional staff with years of experience in post conflict recovery and development. The organization is registered with the ministry of economy of the government of Afghanistan with a registration number of (2726). Our goal:

Our primary goal is to build local capacities towards peace building in Afghanistan, that should be achieved through research, capacity building and educations. What makes us different:

Expertise: ADPRO maintains a network of highly skilled professionals with diverse
professional backgrounds with hands-on experience in almost all provinces across Afghanistan. These individuals bring with them an intimate knowledge of the local communities, their needs and grievances. Ability to operate in highly insecure areas: ADPRO has developed a deep understanding of how to work effectively in high risks, insecure and extremely conservative societies. Our staff has experience on key methods of community mobilization. Networks: ADPRO has strong relationship with and knowledge of local communities, tribal leaders, businesses, community networks and civil society actors in most of the provinces in Afghanistan. These networks provide us with access to some of the most challenging district and communities in Afghanistan. ADPRO Program Areas:

Research and Analysis: ADPRO's core focus is on conducting researches on politics, economy, agriculture... and all related fields that may help in peace-building in Afghanistan and the region. The research objective of center is to analyze the current local and regional conflict, and recommend specific actions to reduce conflict and help the peace process. We also conduct researches on national and international projects that have helped in peace-building. Publishing/Translating: ADPRO with the help of an excellent team of experienced staff publishes and translates books and materials related to peace-building in Afghanistan. Training/Education: The primary purpose of the education and training offered by ADPRO is to build capacity, and educate and help develop skills and expertise of those who are engaged in, or study, Afghanistan and the region. Briefings and seminars organized by ADPRO function to engage various actors on social, cultural and political developments specific to the region. ADPRO also conducts training in journalism with training courses held in documentary making and producing media materials for public show that will help in peace-building. In addition to that, ADPRO offers fellowships to international researchers so that they can benefit from the unique learning environment offered by ADPRO and its staff, as well as contribute to the Center’s activities. ADPRO also conducts other activities that help local communities join the peace-building process. ADPRO Management and Organizational Structure:

General Assembly:The general assembly is composed of all ADPRO staff and contributing members, is the supreme body of the organization. All major policy decisions are taken by the General Assembly and it will meet at least once a month. Decisions in the General Assembly are made on the basis of consensus or majority votes. The chairperson of the board of directors will chair the General Assembly. The Board of Directors: The Board of Directors is the second highest authority of the organization after the General assembly that determines the organization’s mission statement, policies and strategic priorities. Members of the board are elected by a majority of votes at the General Assembly. The members of the Board of Directors are those with demonstrated knowledge of development context and experience in one or more of the organization focus areas. The Executive Body: The overall management function of the organization is led by an executive body headed by the Director, Deputy Executive Officer and deputy Finance and Administration. The team is responsible to implement the decisions made by the General Assembly and the Board of Directors and implement the approved plans and programs of the organization. The executive body is responsible for the management issues of office, staff and programs management.
