ActionAid Boosts Local Businesses in Badghis with Cash Support
ActionAid Afghanistan, through its Afghanistan Community Resilience Program (ACRP), has provided cash support to 20 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the vulnerable districts of Qadis and Bala Murghab. The initiative distributed a total of $11,000, with each entrepreneur receiving $550 to strengthen their business operations and promote economic resilience.
Among the beneficiaries were 13 male and 7 female entrepreneurs, with a strong focus on supporting women-led enterprises. The program aims to enhance local production, improve household incomes, and foster inclusive economic growth in high-risk communities.
Hafizullah, a shopkeeper from Qadis district, shared how the ACRP support revitalized his business. "This support came at the right time. I can now continue my business confidently and provide better for my family," he said. With the funds, he restocked his shop, bought essential tools, and added a refrigerator, leading to a noticeable increase in sales and customer traffic.
The initiative is already showing tangible impacts, with supported SMEs providing essential goods and services to local markets, reducing dependency on external aid, and contributing to long-term community resilience in Badghis province.
