Former ICOFOM Chair, Professor Karen Brown, recently visited the and Historical Society, a key site of cultural memory, heritage, and community life on the island.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl (July 2024), Carriacou faced devastating loss. Homes were destroyed, communities disrupted-and the island’s only museum, a guardian of history, memory, and identity, was severely damaged.

Now, there is an urgent and inspiring effort to rebuild, not just what was lost, but something stronger, more resilient, and future-facing.
