Established in 1997 by the Dutch Consulate and a group of prominent Dutch businessmen, the, NBC provides its members with a permanent platform for professional networking and - more in particular - the enhancement of business links with likeminded entrepreneurs, professionals and business councils
in Dubai, the Northern Emirates and the GCC at large. To this end, the NBC undertakes a wide range of

monthly activities managing to entertain, inform and connect its members with each other and with interested third parties from around the region. Organized as a non-profit association under Dubai law and working under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the NBC is recognized by the UAE authorities as the representative body of Dutch entrepreneurs and professionals active in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Whilst operationally independent and financially self-sufficient from the outset, the NBC has experienced significant growth over the last decade. From a handful pioneering entrepreneurs and career expatriates, the NBC has grown into a body of roughly 200 entrepreneurs, managers and executives in a large variety of industries. Many of them consistently frequent the NBC’s 30+ events
throughout the year.

This morning, the Netherlands Business Council UAE joined AHK and the Austrian Business Council for a joint Cybersecurity Breakfast Session at the Grand Plaza Mövenpick Hotel, Media City.

Practical, grounded, and immediately relevant, the session covered everything from AI-driven phishing and phone scams to legal liability, with real guidance businesses can act on today.

Thank you to our speakers Johannes Schönborn, Jakob Kisser, and Nadeem Maniar for the valuable insights, and to Werner Baumgartner and Katharina Breithaupt for helping make this event happen. Great to see our business communities coming together like this.

Dr. Mohamed GHORAB is a seasoned certification and quality professional with over 26 years of international experience and more than 4,000 audit days across 36 countries. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration alongside qualifications in Total Quality Management, Engineering Management, and Mechanical Engineering: a foundation that gives him both technical precision and strategic perspective.

Currently serving as Certification and Training Director at Control Union in the UAE, Mohamed has previously held senior roles at TÜV Austria, Bureau Veritas, and SGS, as well as consulting for Shell and leading quality functions in the automotive and foundry industries. He is an IRCA Principal Auditor and Tutor, and holds authorisations across a wide range of international standards including ISO 37001, ISO 50001, IATF 16949, FSC-CoC, and carbon footprint verification frameworks.

On 20 May, NBC brought together members and guests in Amsterdam for an afternoon of networking and genuine conversation over a shared lunch.

The response was beyond what we expected. Several attendees decided to join NBC as members, which reflects the kind of community we are working to build.

It is always a pleasure when our network extends beyond Dubai, and this gathering was a reminder of how strong those connections are wherever we meet. Thank you to everyone who joined us.
