We were humbled as our Chair was asked for an interview by the Expo organizers in Dubai!

Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Alumnae Zimbabwe is at the World Centre attending the Organic and Natural Dubai Expo. A delegation of 12 women entrepreneurs, led by our Chairwoman, Chipo Mabota and two Board members Chioneso Nyamukoroso and Thelmar Tatenda Chivasa-Musariri attended this Expo under the ZimTrade Zimbabwe banner. All our members who attended engaged with buyers and gained invaluable insights. Two of our ladies, Mpofu and Siziba had the privilege to exhibit their products and showcase Zimbabwean quality on this international platform.

The expo strengthened understanding of global standards, packaging expectations, and market opportunities. The networks built will support our push for export growth among women-led enterprises.It was also a platform where we saw a clear triangulation of thd Global South as producers shared ideas on production processes and value addition.

We are forever grateful to ZimTrade for facilitating this event and kudos to Mafu and Mabuka
who helped us throughout this journey towards making this event a success.

: Today we shine a spotlight on Dr. Chido Matyatya-Sango.

A Force for Change, Dr. Chido Matyatya-Sango is a trailblazer in every sense. As the founder of Blossoming Tots, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) learning center in Mutare, Zimbabwe, she's revolutionizing the way young children learn. By integrating technology, farming, and enterprise into her curriculum, Dr. Chido bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

A Hands-on Approach
Dr. Chido's innovative approach focuses on hands-on learning, replacing screen time with engaging, interactive activities that foster creativity and critical thinking. Her passion for girl child advocacy and women empowerment is evident in her predominantly female workforce.

Inclusive Education
Blossoming Tots is committed to providing inclusive education, welcoming children with hearing impairments and offering sign language support. This initiative reflects Dr. Chido's dedication to creating a nurturing environment for all young learners.

Entrepreneurial Spirit
In addition to her work in education, Dr. Chido has successfully run a registered uniform and protective clothing business for over a decade. She credits the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) for encouraging her to formalize her business, having trained with them in the inaugural cohort.

Dr. Chido's life story is a testament to her resilience, innovation, and passion for empowering girls and women. With an impressive academic background and entrepreneurial spirit, she's poised to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Dr. Chido Matyatya-Sango's groundbreaking work in ECD and entrepreneurship, combined with her passion for girl and women's empowerment, positions her as a leader in her field. As she looks to the future, Dr. Chido is open to collaborating with women and businesses globally, paving the way for innovative partnerships and impactful initiatives that can drive positive change worldwide.

Last week on Friday, we gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to the U.S. Embassy Zimbabwe Public Diplomacy Officer, Becca Archer-Knepper who was our dedicated AWE embassy representative. Her contributions have made a lasting impact to the AWE community and will be greatly missed. We wish Becca all the best in her next adventure.

On Wednesday, the session on pathways to professionalism set the tone on how to conduct ourselves and make an impact in the business world by leveraging responsibility, accountability, passion, attitude and respect.This was a great platform for female entrepreneurs to learn and understand the importance of professionalism and grooming. As women in business, it is pivotal for us to be well groomed and carry ourselves well in the business world and beyond. The expectation is even bigger for those in the male- dominated industry.

At the AWE 5th Anniversary Celebration, we had the pleasure of having the Tariro Marimba girls group who are based at Chembira Primary School in GlenNorah A, Harare. A couple of days ago we went with our token of appreciation in the form of Hampers and the girls were elated.

These young girls are incredible performers and they always leave you wanting more.

We will surely be inviting them to more of our events!
