The Desert Palm Riding School is at the heart of this equine haven and provides stabling for over 60 horses. Each day the 7 riding arenas with full show jumping and dressage facilities come alive with activity. Five full time instructors provide lessons for those of all standards, with classes starting for children from five years old. Lessons and livery are available for residents and non-residents alike. The main heart of Desert Palm is its world-class polo operation. Quite simply, without polo their would be no Desert Palm, given that the estate was the brainchild of owner Ali Albwardy who wanted to create a home for his Dubai Polo Team operations. The result is one of the finest polo clubs anywhere in the world, which in turn has been vindicated by the Dubai Polo Team winning just about every major tournament across the globe in recent years. With over 250 polo ponies stabled, trained and played at Desert Palm during the year it is huge enterprise that includes 4 manicured grass fields, stick and ball areas, and training facilities. Several polo professionals are on hand during the season (October – May) to provide lessons and instruction for beginners through to advanced players, while ‘chukkas’ are organised most afternoons for residents and guests alike. Desert Palm is the home for the Cartier International Polo Challenge having hosted its fifth event this year, and the second year for the Nations Cup. These annual events have put Desert Palm on the map as one of the leading destinations in the global polo circuit, many of the international polo players including the world’s number one Adolfo Cambiaso and USA’s number one player Nick Roldan, participate in these prestigious events drawing a lot of interest from local and international enthusiasts of the game.
