Future conservation starts with moments like this.

When children connect with wildlife up close, something powerful happens — curiosity turns into respect, and respect becomes understanding.

At Wild Flight, our school falconry programme is designed to do more than introduce students to birds of prey. It creates meaningful experiences that inspire a deeper appreciation for nature, conservation and the incredible adaptations of these remarkable birds.

Because the next generation of conservation starts with connection.

The best moments in falconry don’t always happen in flight.

Sometimes they happen as the sun sets and the day comes to a close.

When the noise fades, the fields grow quiet, and falconer and bird return together after another day built on focus, trust, and routine.

At Wild Flight Falconry Service, caring for our birds goes far beyond the moments you see in flight.

Falconry is built on trust, understanding, and making sure every bird receives the care it needs to stay healthy and strong.

A daily bath is an important part of their routine. Bathing helps keep a falcon’s feathers clean, flexible, and in perfect condition — all essential for healthy flight and overall wellbeing.

Because when our birds are in peak condition, they can do what they were born to do.

The Power of Partnership

In falconry, success comes from the partnership between falconer and bird.

Built on trust, patience, and respect, it’s a relationship where both move as one.

A bird of prey is never forced to perform — it chooses to work with its falconer.

And that moment, when bird and falconer move together, is where the true power of falconry lies.

24/04/2026

Behind every great bird of prey is a falconer who takes enormous pride in their work.

At Wild Flight, falconry is not just a job — it’s a craft built on patience, trust, and daily dedication. Our team spends countless hours working with their birds, learning their personalities, refining their skills, and building the partnership that makes every flight possible.

That pride is what sets Wild Flight apart.

It’s in the way our falconers handle their birds, the respect they show for these incredible hunters, and the passion they bring to every show and every pest control flight.
Because when falconers truly care about what they do… the birds show it.

Meet Wild Flight Falconer: Thabo Moraka

From the dusty roads of Limpopo, South Africa, to working in Abu Dhabi, Thabo’s journey with wildlife has been more than a career — it’s a lifelong passion.

His story began in 1998 as a snake handler and herpetologist, before discovering falconry in 2001 at Wildthingz Animal Park in South Africa. In 2015, Thabo joined Wild Flight, where he honed his skills and became a key part of our pest control team.

What does he enjoy most?
Watching the birds do what they were born to do.
“My favourite part is seeing how quickly the birds of prey learn and adapt while hunting.”
With over 25 years in wildlife management, Thabo believes the best way to solve problems is by working with nature.

Meet Wild Flight Falconer John Botha

John joined the Wild Flight team in November 2022 and has been working across both our shows and pest control departments, gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of environments — and enjoying every moment of it.

For John, the best part of the job is working closely with the birds and getting to know their individual personalities. Anyone who spends time around raptors quickly learns that no two birds are the same.

Like everyone at Wild Flight, falconry is more than just a job for him — it’s a passion. Falconry constantly challenges you to think, adapt and stay patient. Every day with the birds is different, and as John puts it, it’s a reminder that there’s always more to learn.
In this photo, John is working with Freya, a Saker Falcon, one of the remarkable birds he flies as part of the Wild Flight team.

🦅 Falconry is built on trust, patience, and understanding each bird as an individual — something John experiences every day.

Meet Wild Flight Falconer: Luckson Chioko

Luckson Chioko joined Wild Flight Falconry Services in November 2024 and works with Harris hawks providing natural pest control across the UAE.

His journey into falconry started when he joined Wild Flight. Since then his days have been spent learning, training, caring for, and flying birds of prey — work that requires patience, discipline, and a deep understanding of each bird.

Luckson works closely with Bella, a Harris Hawk, and together they form a working partnership in the field. Harris hawks are intelligent, social birds, and working with Bella has taught him a great deal about teamwork, awareness, and the trust that develops between falconer and hawk.

For Luckson, that partnership is what makes falconry so rewarding — the daily discipline, the bond with the bird, and seeing these remarkable raptors do what they are naturally built to do.

A day with our raptors.

Every morning begins with the birds. There’s always a quiet moment on the perch first — a pause before the day really starts. Sometimes it’s just a look, but you can tell when they’re ready.

Falconry is built on routine, trust, and understanding each bird as an individual. And then comes the moment we all wait for — flight.

Working with nature, not against it.

09/04/2026

When people ask what makes falconry different from mechanical pest control, the answer is simple — we use nature.

Our falconers work with trained birds of prey, allowing natural predator instincts to do what machines, traps, and noise cannons try to imitate. When a hawk or falcon is present, pest birds recognise the threat immediately and move on.

It’s quiet, effective, and sustainable — and it’s a method that has been trusted for thousands of years.
Sometimes the best solution is simply letting nature do its job.
