Meet Darlington Kasongo – sharing the spirit of falconry and the wonder of nature, one flight at a time. 🦅✨

Some journeys begin with a passion for nature and grow into a career that spans continents.

Darlington Kasongo joined the Wild Flight family in August 2016, bringing with him years of experience as a falconer that began at Kuimba Shiri Bird Park in Zimbabwe in 2009. A lifelong nature lover, Darlington has always been drawn to animals and the unique connection between humans and birds of prey.

Today, he combines his expertise in spectacular falcon shows with professional bird control across Dubai, where his trusted partner is Optimus, a magnificent Steppe Eagle. Together, they demonstrate the remarkable intelligence, power and precision that make birds of prey such incredible ambassadors for conservation.

Every bird has a story, and so does every falconer.

Azhar Mehmood joined the Wild Flight team in Dubai in February 2023, bringing with him a lifelong fascination for falcons and birds of prey. What began as an admiration for their incredible speed, power and intelligence soon became a career built on dedication, patience and respect for these remarkable animals.

For Azhar, the most rewarding part of his role isn't just flying birds—it's earning their trust. Every interaction strengthens a unique partnership, where communication happens without words and every day offers a new opportunity to learn.

"Working closely with these amazing birds gives me a sense of satisfaction and peace. Their behaviour is always teaching me something new, and that journey of learning never stops."

🦅 Meet the Team | Brownie Kapunha _ General Manager

Some careers are built. Others are lived.

For more than 30 years, Brownie Kapunha has dedicated his life to birds of prey, transforming a childhood passion into an internationally respected career that spans Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

His journey began in Zimbabwe in 1995, working alongside renowned falconer Gary Stafford, where he gained hands-on experience rescuing injured raptors, managing breeding programmes, and eventually leading a team responsible for the care of more than 5,000 birds.

Driven by a passion to learn, Brownie moved to South Africa in 2002 to work with leading Falconer and Conservationist Trevor Oertel at the SA National Bird of Prey Centre, collaborating with some of the finest falconers from South Africa and the UK while deepening his understanding of raptor behaviour, welfare, and conservation.
In 2014, Brownie joined Wild Flight during its early years in the UAE. Through dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he progressed from Senior Falconer to Operations Manager, and today proudly serves as our General Manager.

Twelve years later, he still arrives every morning with the same enthusiasm he had on day one—leading our incredible team and sharing the ancient art of falconry with guests from around the world.

Pictured with Rooi, our magnificent Aplomado Falcon, Brownie represents everything Wild Flight stands for: passion, conservation, education, and the extraordinary bond between humans and birds of prey.
