The Big 5 Construct Saudi recently took place from 30 August - 2 September 2026. Ahmad Mhanna, ACI MENA Director, exhibited and conducted a Concrete Talks session titled, "Introduction to ACI," during the event. This session provided an overview of all ACI offerings including certification, publications, and education.

Resources reviewed included those available on the Middle East Regional Portal (https://www.concrete.org/middleeast.aspx) and supplementary resources for ACI CODE 318-25 available on the 318 Building Code Portal (https://www.concrete.org/topicsinconcrete/318buildingcodeportal.aspx).

As a Supporting Association, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) played an active role in this year's program, with ACI members delivering technical sessions focused on concrete quality, durability and the application of ACI standards alongside the Saudi Building Code. Topics included reinforced concrete water structures, quality management and best practices that support safer, more resilient construction across the Kingdom.

The ACI Foundation is now accepting applications for the MENA Student Excellence Awards for the 2027-2028 academic year.🎉 Applicants must be enrolled at a college or university in one of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, or Saudi Arabia. ⌛Applications are due by November 1, 2026. ⌛

Recipients receive:
• A $7,000 USD educational stipend to help cover tuition, housing, books, and academic materials.
• Travel support to attend one North American ACI Concrete Convention for an in-person finalist interview, one ACI Middle East Conference, and travel within the Middle East to obtain ACI certification. Approved travel expenses are covered by the scholarship program and are subject to applicable laws and regulations.
• Professional recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the ACI Foundation website.
