OCDA UAE - Oku Cultural and Development Association in United Arab Emirates An association of Oku sons and daughters from Cameroon in UAE

19/04/2026

With heavy hearts,we The Oku Sons and Daughters Based In United Arab Emirates joined one of our own Nchinda Gideon to pay our last respects at the wake of his beloved uncle and father.

Moments like this remind us of the importance of unity, love, and standing by each other not only in times of joy, but also in times of sorrow. As a group, we showed up in support, offering comfort and strength during this difficult time.

We pray for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and ask God to grant the family the fortitude to bear this great loss.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

MODIFICATION OF THE OKU CULTURAL WEEK (OKU NDONG DANCE AND ÈYBÍNSE NCHÍYSÈNDÀSE)

Dear Sons and Daughters of Oku,
The Oku Fon’s Palace and the Kwifon of Oku wish to inform the public of a modification to the dates of the Cultural Week.

Originally scheduled from December 18 – 21, 2025, the event will now begin on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, to allow for the proper opening of festivities. Accordingly, the Memorial Service for the late Fon Ngum III will now take place on Thursday, December 18, the Ndong Dance Festival on Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20 will feature exhibitions and cultural animations by the Kwifon and Ngele, in consideration of Ngokse, the last market day before the Christian Feast of Christmas.

The Grand Nchiynda Dance and Closing Ceremony remains on Sunday, December 21.

This adjustment ensures that all participants can fully honour Oku traditions while enjoying the cultural experience.
We encourage all sons and daughters of Oku, at home and abroad, to come out in their numbers, celebrate our heritage.
