Join us to out upcoming full-day Workshop: Reading the Person Behind the Symptom.
🖌️ Two patients can present with the same depression, the same anxiety, even the same psychotic episode, yet need completely different treatment. Symptoms tell you what is happening; structure tells you why.
🖌️ In this 6-hour workshop, Dr. Diana Maatouk (Psy.D / Ph.D, Dha Licensed Clinical Senior Psychologist) and Sarkis Gudjelian Sarkis Gudjelian (M.A., Cda Licensed Psychologist) guide you from Freud's structural roots, through Klein's paranoid-schizoid and depressive positions, to the contemporary model of Kernberg and Bergeret.
🖌️ At its core are the three personality structures every clinician needs to tell apart. The neurotic structure has an intact sense of reality, conflict managed through repression, and anxiety centered on guilt. The borderline structure is organized around splitting, unstable identity, and a deep fear of abandonment. The psychotic structure shows a fragile hold on reality, fragmentation, and archaic defenses.
🧠 You'll learn to recognize each one using the seven structural criteria and see how they map onto DSM-5 personality disorders. Most importantly, you'll learn how each structure shapes the way you intervene. Every concept is grounded in real clinical vignettes, and session verbatims, worked through together so you leave with a method you can use with your very next patient.
